Several songs into Monday night’s show at The Gothic Theater, Robert Levon Been of BRMC asked the crowd, “Do you all still believe in the power of love and fucking rock and roll music?” And the resounding response from the crowd restored our faith in rock and roll, if only for one night. There are [...] The post Black Rebel Motorcycle Club at the Gothic Theater appeared first on Your Music Is Awful.com .

Record Store Day is upon us - this Saturday, 4/20 to be exact - and Jack White, ambassador of the whole shebang, and his Nashville hub for Third Man Records will unveil a brand new analog machine, the Third Man Recording Booth, at the store for the event. Like the Mold-O-Rama and Dip'n'Dunk photobooth before it, the Third Man Recording Booth is a popular relic from the past, a Voice-O-Graph machine, which gives you the opportunity to commit your own 2-minute recording to wax. As we reported earlier this year, Jay-Z had a large hand in the music component of the upcoming Baz Lurhmann's film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby . The tracklist for the soundtrack, which Jay executive produced, has been revealed and includes an eclectic array of artists. On the theme of the music, Lurhmann says , "While we acknowledge, as Fitzgerald phrased it, 'the Jazz Age,' and this is the period represented on screen, we - our audience - are living in 'the Hip-Hop Age' and want our viewers to feel the impact of [...]

The band will play the Belly Up in March // Follow Owl and Bear on Facebook and Twitter for contests, MP3s, and links that don't make it onto the blog.
The Grammys! We spent altogether too much of last night watching and talking about them , and now it's time to pick through the refuse for the gems. Not too surprisingly, two of the best performances came from the recent wave of personal, psychedelic R&B singer-songwriters. Frank Ocean may have lost in every single major category, but he still got a chance to sing "Forrest Gump" on a dizzying stage set that made it look like he was running through a 1970s car-chase movie. It was pretty. And Miguel, stuck with an insanely brief time-slot and forced to share [...]

For anyone who has ever wanted to pick Jack White 's brain but never had the opportunity to, here's a good sampling of what to expect. Jack was recently featured on Conan O'Brien's Serious Jibber-Jabber , a segment where Conan has "lengthy, uninterrupted conversations with interesting people on topics which fascinate him." Of course, the eclectic Jack White made the cut, and the topics between the two ranged from art, to success, to upholstery. Check out the 75-minute video, which was shot entirely on 35mm film, below.

¿Cómo no iba a estarlo?
I'm having special levels of good feeling toward Jack White right now, after watching my Baltimore Ravens advance in the playoffs in Ray Lewis's last-ever home game. (Ravens fans like to chant the "Seven Nation Army" riff after every big play. Because we're awesome.) And it's pretty fortuitous that White appeared on the PBS live-music show Austin City Limits this past weekend, and that his whole episode is already online. During the show, White played with both his male and female backing bands, wore a badass powder-blue suit, and played White Stripes, Raconteurs, and Dead Weather songs, as [...]

Jack White was on the latest episode of PBS's Austin City Limits and performed a 20-minute-long set featuring cuts form his most recent record, Blunderbuss . To keep things interesting, his touring bands - the all-male Buzzards and the all-female Peacocks - accompanied him on stage for different songs. Watch the episode in its entirety below. Your Artist of the Year Jack White supported your Album of the Year Blunderbuss on the latest episode of Austin City Limits . Jack began his set accompanied by the all-male Buzzards, performing "Freedom at 213, "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground", "Missing Pieces", a medley of "Cannon" and "John the Revelator", "You Know That I Know", and "Blunderbuss". He then brought out the all-female Peacocks for "Hypocritical Kiss", a medley of "Screwdriver" and "Blue Blood Blues", "I'm Slowly Turning Into You", "Top Yourself", [...]

Last night, the always awesome Jack White, made the live performance TV debut of his latest single, "I'm Shakin'". The performance was on Conan O'Brien's late night talk show on TBS, Conan, with White's all female band, The Peacocks. Jack and Conan go way back, they've always been fans of eachother and have even performed together. Conan recorded an album when he was on his "Hiatus Tour" at Jack's Third Man Records in Nashville. Check out the performance below:

Jack White brought out "I'm Shakin'" for his performance on his friend Conan O'Brien's show. It's a solid performance. Check it out below via Team CoCo .

Jack White 's brand of loud, old school, bluesy rock might sound packed full of testosterone, but his all-female band proves that you don't need a scrotum to... uh, nevermind, it's too early to be writing about scrotums. The point is, Jack White's band is pretty badass, and the image of Jack surrounded by instrument-wielding ladies is great. Check out this performance of "I'm Shakin'" from last night's Conan .
Last night the main man known as Jack White was the musical guest on Conan O'Brien's slot and he brought along his all female backing band. They performed the first ever live performance of "I'm Shakin'" taken from his solo release from earlier in the year, Blunderbuss . I would do just about anything to have a play around with Jack's pedal board and set-up. Maybe if I ask Santa real nice?
