The Dead Weather - Treat Me Like Your Mother They might consider this a short film, but don't mistake it, this is still just a video for "Treat Me Like Your Mother" and not... [[This is an excerpt. The pages look just silly here, you know? Why not just hit up the article, homes? We'd appreciate that!]]

Our look at the closing lines of the week’s biggest new-music reviews continues with a roundup of reactions to Horehound , the first album by the Jack White/Allison Mosshart project The Dead Weather: • "The songs on Horehound don't so much rock as writhe, reinstituting the idea of the blues as a sinister, morally corrupting force that's as much the province of voodoo priests and witch doctors as musicians. Perhaps Jack White's continued dominance over contemporary blues-rock is in fact the product of some deal with the devil-and if that means [...]

The Dead Weather is not supposed to be Jack White's new band. Sure, White plays drums for The Dead Weather, but as many of us know, the drummer sits in the back and gets the least amount of attention. Think about how many drummers you can name versus how many singers or guitarists and I think you'll get a better idea of how mysterious these masters of the beat really can be. So you see, The Dead Weather is really Alison Mossheart's band. Take one look at the cover of their debut album "Horehound," and you'll see only Mossheart's face [...]

Music video for "Treat Me Like Your Mother" by the Dead Weather from the album "Horehound."
Like everything he's touched before, the Dead Weather is drawing myriads of comparisons to Jack White's bread and butter the White Stripes, and while the Icky Thump-ish guitar/keyboard tones of the two singles ( Hang You From the Heavens and Treat Me Like Your Mother ) do little to set from White's past projects, it is hard not to listen to the remaining tracks without noticing the group's temerity. As unusual as it may seem for White to start a supergroup without assuming fronting duties but Alison Mosshart (The Kills) proves she is more than capable. Sure her [...]
Happy double birthday to Jack White and Isaac Brock, who both turn 34 today. Jack White is perhaps the more well known of the two, having founded three different groups, two of which have met with great success and one of which is recently new but has started well for him. He is most well known for his first band, The White Stripes, the duo formed with his ex-wife but still good friend Meg White. In particular, the album Elephant stands out as moment of excellence for the band. His other two groups have also gone on to [...]
Video: 'It Might Get Loud' Trailer When I first heard about this movie, I thought it sounded cheesy as shit. But this trailer looks really cool. The documentary "tells the personal stories of three generations of electric guitar virtuosos" and...
For a guy who isn't the biggest fan of the digital world , Jack White sure has a hard time showing it - then again, the following is way cooler than any hack MySpace. Third Man Records , the personal imprint of Mr. White, recently began offering a two-tier subscription service that provides, pending purchase of course, some pretty nifty access to Jack White and Jack White related exploits. For $7.00 a month, members will receive access to what is referred to as The Vault . Included is stuff like first dibs on pre-sale concert tickets, [...]

The Dead Weather is a new alt-rock supergroup consisting of vocalist Alison Mosshart (the Kills), guitarist Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age), bassist Jack Lawrence ( the Raconteurs ), and drummer/vocalist Jack White (of both the White Stripes and the Raconteurs ). The band played several shows last month, including gigs at Hollywood's Roxy Theatre and London's Boston Music Room, to rave reviews. They also made a surprise appearance at the Glastonbury Music Festival on June 26. Now the band is inviting fans to attend a listening party for their debut [...]

Filed under: News , Holy Hell Don't expect Jack White and Jimmy Page to be hangin' out in a basement, throwing back a few and rocking out to 'Guitar Hero' anytime soon. For one, yes, they probably have better things to do. But for two, the respective White Stripes and Led Zeppelin guitarists criticized the popular video game as an undesirable way for people to be exposed to music. "It's depressing to have a label come and tell [...]

Filed under: News , Exclusive When speaking of inspiration, many musicians will say a song, lyric or riff "came out of nowhere" and ended up being a hit. For the Dead Weather , the same can be said for almost every aspect of the band's existence. Starting from their formation, the combination of the White Stripes ' Jack White , the Kills ' Alison Mosshart, Queens of the Stone Age keyboardist and former Waxwings frontman Dean Fertita, and Raconteurs bassist "Little" [...]
The Dead Weather perform "Hang You From The Heavens" on the June 18 episode of the Tonight Show.

The Dead Weather are set to make their U.S. television debut tonight (June 18) when they stop by ' The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien '. The band, which is Jack White 's new sideproject band along with The Kills ' Alison Mosshart , will play their new single, ' Treat Me Like Your Mother ', on the late night talk show. White is good friends with ' Tonight Show ' host Conan O'Brien and a few months ago performed with Meg [...]

The 100-year-old man in a pale, young man's body known as Jack White recently stated his beef with MySpace and the internet in general in a cantankerous interview with The Ampersand about his new supergroup the Dead Weather: “Do I really need a MySpace page for this f-king music? Do I really need to do that? There’s a part of me, that just out of spite, says I don’t want to do it because it’s so antithetical to what I do,” Mr. White said. “I just question what it all means. If [...]

Actually, it's more "Spinal Tap" than "The Hills", but it's still reality-esque nonetheless. Back in 2007, the White Stripes toured Canada by playing in tiny odd towns in a random city bus , a fishing boat , a classroom, and some random warehouse that probably was the go-to spot for raves in the 90s. If you weren't there or wanted to get more of an "I wish I was there" feeling, thanks to Louis Lumiere, it was all captured on film for us to view. Don't hold your breath for any salty footage of Jack [...]

Forever just that one crucial half-step behind the hip and happening, tonight finds Plain Or Pan puffing, panting, gasping and wheezing in order to bring you the most exciting thing I've just heard since, oooh, well, the last exciting thing I've just heard (that'td be the Danger Mouse album, scroll down a wee bit). Aye. Most of you will no doubt at least have heard of these tracks by now and will possibly have them already. Some of the more astute amongst you may even have actual physical shiny black vinyl copies of a couple of the tracks. If so, bear with me. [...]
