On Saturday, Brooklyn's gorgeous Grand Prospectus Hall hosted an anniversary party for the new millennial cool factory that is DFA. Red Bull Music Academy put together an incredibly impressive video called "Too Old To Be New, Too New To Be Classic," a short look at the history and personality of DFA Records. It's a lovely collection or oral histories, cheeky one-liners (like James Murphy asserting that peanut butter is the greatest American flavor) and "I'm so glad they captured that" photos and videos. Red Bull Music Academy has released a rather fascinating short documentary in honor of the occasion. Titled 12 Years of DFA: Too Old To Be New, Too New To Be Classic , the film chronicles the history of the label and its founders, as well as its artists (including Murphy's now defunct LCD Soundsystem ).
