Two years ago this month, LCD Soundsystem played their final show at New York City's Madison Square Garden. Since then, James Murphy has celebrated the band in both book and film , and even openly discussed the possibility of getting the gang back together to record a new song. However, as of April 23rd, 20013, a reunion of LCD Soundsystem is nowhere closer to happening. Here's what Murphy wrote on the band's Facebook page last night: pat is in the studio working on his new [...]

Bill Nelson has quite the music catalog. It spans more than four decades, and is enough to keep any music enthusiast curious for a very long time. Stepping away from progressive rock group Be-Bop Deluxe in 1978, Nelson turned towards an electronic, synth-pop, and experimental music path. The Love That Whirls (Diary 0f a Thinking Heart) is one of those albums. I was exposed to it for the first time listening to Sirius XM U while James Murphy was DJing for the station, talking about his time with [...]

Today succeeding 2009’s It’s Blitz! is Yeah Yeah Yeahs' fiercely awaited fourth studio record, Mosquito . Having seen its predecessor ratchet its way up and down a more electronically infected backbone, Nick Zinner's charmingly messy guitars taking a back seat to allow for lush keys and warm synths to ride up front the direction now adopted for Mosquito is one of instant intrigue and interest so as to provoke the question: which way will the Yeah Yeah Yeahs now turn? Opening track and lead single Sacrilege possesses all of the typically thrilling [...]

We are pretty lucky to live here in Austin. Friday night, the wife and I started out at the friendly confines of The Mohawk , caught a kick ass set from Flesh Lights , chilled at a picnic table, had beer, whisky, and Topo Chico with good people that also love our music scene. Red7 played host to a DJ set from James Murphy thanks to Learning Secrets . The wife got tix and that means that we became besties with the leader of one of my favorite things, [...]

According to DFA.info former LCD Soundsystem/DFA Records co-founder James Murphy (pictured) has filed a lawsuit in Manhattan Civil Supreme Court against DFA Records co-founder Tim Goldsworthy . Murphy is seeking nearly $100,000 from Goldsworthy for allegedly failing to perform services he was paid for, owing outstanding loans, improperly using the company credit card and making unauthorized withdrawals from its bank accounts. The lawsuit filed on Friday claims that "attempts to amicably resolve this matter were rebuffed" by Goldsworthy. Goldsworthy is also accused of "breach of contract" and "unjust enrichment." Murphy and Goldsworthy worked together as a production [...]
Whenever a band held in such high regard as are Karen O's Yeah Yeah Yeahs return with anything that may be deemed an in any way subversive change of tact, there are always going to be dissenters up in arms exclaiming "Sacrilege!" and so forth. Which makes the title of this, the first thing proper to have been extracted from forthcoming fourth Mosquito (anticipated April 15th on Polydor ), that bit more apposite. Nonetheless, there's little to find fault with as Sacrilege is as though a fizzy recomposition of It's Blitz! highlight Dull Life [...]

Since their third studio effort It's Blitz ( 2009), gutsy New York threesome Yeah Yeah Yeahs have remained all-too-quiet to the music scene. The four-year silence was broken, however, when the group announced the drop date of its fourth album, dubbed Mosquito (yes, for the insect), two weeks ago on their site . The YYYs have also pledged to play a slough of new dates, including the two weekends of Coachella . When asked about the record, which has been in-the-works since 2010, Karen O herself stated, "so much feeling went into [...]

Ever since the disbandment of LCD Soundsystem in 2011, founding frontman James Murphy has been simultaneously elusive while maintaining prominence. Murphy can now be found acting , producing new music with familiar faces , and of course, DJing. Murphy has stated, in both song and interview, that one of his passions is DJing. Ever the elitist tastemaker, James Murphy has always been one of the best at bringing his finer selection of music to the masses... case and point(s): "Losing My Edge" and "Daft Punk Is Playing At My House" and the entire DFA record [...]

We all know that New York's Yeah Yeah Yeahs are one of the more colourful bands releasing music, but that artwork above takes things to another level. Their new album Mosquito will be released on April 15th in the US, April 16th in the UK, and will no doubt feature some of the new songs that they've been playing live recently, a couple of which you can watch below. As with their last album It's Blitz [...]

Jarvis Cocker demoed this song a year ago and kept it on the back burner until both Pulp and James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) were on the S.S. Coachella together. I think you'll like the result of this collaboration, and I like the idea of Pulp over a dance beat. By Bruce Rave Pulp - After You (feat. James Murphy) PULP ( Official ) *Check out Bruce's Moheak Radio "Go Deep" show on Sunday nights 7-9 [...]

"After You" first appeared back in 2000 but PULP has finally given us an album quality version to listen to. James Murphy , the lead singer of LCD Soundsystem, is featured on the track as well. It's a nice tune to get up and dance to. That's exactly what I suggest you do.

In talking with the Plain Dealer's John Benson , This Moment in Black History's Lamont "Bim" Thomas described Higher Deffer, his band's newest effort as a back to basics record with bite, "We just dove back in just trying to get back to what it was about and having some fun. Instead of going with [producers] Jim Diamond or Steve Albini, we just got back to what we do, simple recording process, good songs, good acoustics and it turned out to be our best album." He would add, "The music is still hard but I guess maybe a [...]
