Rock it Out! Blog recently caught up with Vancouver garage-rock duo Japandroids to discuss their triumphant 2012 and their year-end favorite sophomore album Celebration Rock . Brian King and David Prowse also addressed the possibility of either of them going solo, whether King could hold his own against Jack White, and if they could play an-on-the-spot rendition of the Crossfire theme song (we did indeed put them to the test). Learn a little more about one music's most exciting young bands by clicking play below. Make sure to [...]

Clif's top ten list for 2012 with twenty others receiving honorable mention: 10. Cat Meat – Cat Meat We previewed Cat Meat’s self-titled debut as a Friday Free Feature on November 9, and it’s been in constant rotation between my iPod and car stereo. A complex, experimental alt. country/folk album that claims influences such as Wilco, Sparklehorse and Califone; the classic psychedelic experimenalist, Captain Beefheart; and the legendary bluesmen Mississippi John Hurt and Blind Willie McTell. When you listen, they’re all there in subtle drips, drabs and dollops. [...]

i settled in slowly, to this house that you call home t o blood and breath, fear, flesh and bone ♫ Beat Radio - The House That Heaven Built (Japandroids cover) Get down to the mellowed out Beat Radio ( remember them? ) cover of one of the years best songs or just go buck wild to the video. Normally clip videos are boring as shit but watching them rock the world and kick it off stage is strangely endearing. Plus, its video documentation of why theirs was of the [...]

Japandroids dropped their first music video ever for this year's anthemic single, "The House That Heaven Built". While performance clips are typically stale flare, there's really no better format for this particular track. Director Jim Larson captures the band's oft-discussed live energy to precision, framing their stellar performances and devoted fanbase in glossy black and white. The bealeagured diehard fan at the end pretty much sums up anyone's feelings toward this Vancouver duo, too. Currently, the band is on the road throughout Europe, but they've just announced a bevy of fall and winter dates in [...]

Official Website | Myspace | Facebook | Twitter Pop Montreal is a decade old. I was there at the beginning back in 2002. I have fond memories of seeing those black-clad New Yorkers Interpol playing their first show in our fair city at the now closed Jupiter Room. The place was PACKED. People standing on furniture just to get [...]
