Japandroids are a two-man power-duo that named their last album Celebration Rock and released it with Polyvinyl. You can check out a ever-so-slightly restrained Japandroids playing the first track off their 2012 anthem-fest Celebration Rock. The nominees for the 2013 JUNO Awards were announced last week by The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in Toronto with Japandroids picking up a nomination for "Alternative Album of the Year" for their sophomore full-length, Celebration Rock. Having already reached the Short List for the 2012 Polaris Music Prize, Japandroids can celebrate another nod, this time from CARAS, capping an incredible past year. Response to Celebration Rock has been tremendous, not only in Canada, where first single, "The House That Heaven Built", garnered airplay across the country, but worldwide. Japandroids returned to the boob tube last night with an appearance on Conan , where they mercilessly beat into  Celebration Rock cut, "The Nights of Wine and Roses". How do they maintain such craziness? Perhaps they're still reeling off the excitement of being nominated for top Alternative Album at this year's Juno Awards. Theorize below. Though I'm the sort of guy that likes his Primus in normal 2-D, this Sasquatch 2013 lineup is packed with some serious good energy. You've got The Postal Service reuniting (and maybe Ben Gibbard runs in to Danny Brown randomly and he's all like "You wanna collab?" Because, like that seems like something that would happen nowadays) and indie megas like Sigur Ros, Vampire Weekend, The XX,   and Arctic Monkeys. And everyone is allowed to smoke pot. Like legally. I had a great time at the Governors Ball last year. With the 2013 lineup announcement, it seems like the festival is growing a lot bigger. Not only is there another day added (June 7,8,9) but the quality and size of the artists particiapting this year seem to be on an all-around grander scale. Headliners include Kanye West, Kings Of Leon and a secret guest that will be announced later. Japandroids dropped their first music video ever for this year's anthemic single, "The House That Heaven Built". While performance clips are typically stale flare, there's really no better format for this particular track. Director Jim Larson captures the band's oft-discussed live energy to precision, framing their stellar performances and devoted fanbase in glossy black and white. The bealeagured diehard fan at the end pretty much sums up anyone's feelings toward this Vancouver duo, too. Japandroids are back with a follow up to their 2009 album, "Post-Nothing." The new album, "Celebration Rock," will be released June 5 with a US tour proceeding the release. The first single, "the House That Heaven Built," has everything that you would want in a new release from the duo: melodic screaming, drum bashing, rollicking guitar licks and perfect tempo.
