Young North East band The Tennents from Hull have been showing up on Ralph's Twitter a lot lately with news of a new EP 'Belgium' coming out soonish, so Ralph invited them into the kennel for a chat to check out what they've done already and what's planned for the future. [...]
I never felt like the movies got it right when it came to voluntary submersion. As far as I can tell, jumping fully clothed into a pool always signals either whimsical sexiness or face-numbing depression, but sometimes you just want to chill and reflect under the water. If you agree and happen to be in the process of soundtracking a major motion picture, have I got a treat for you: J A W S . Don't worry, you can stay in the water; this UK band gets their name from the Bond villain rather than anything out of Spielberg's [...]
Summer is so much more than a season (obviously not actually but bear with me). Summer is a mindset, a style, and kind of a way of life. During the summer, you sleep in and stay up late and go to the movies and play sports and fall in love and do drugs and go to the lake and randomly drive and of course, listen to music. But what kind of music do you listen to? Summer songs have a certain candor to them; sunny sounds brazen with a genuine laziness, disdain for authority, or gushy infatuation. [...]
Jaws are a band out of Birmingham, and have been getting very little exposure States side. For me this is the type of band that I always enjoy finding and listening to their music. Their newest release is their Milkshake EP , which features 6 new songs, one being 'Friend Like You', which is occupied by a video. All the footage in the video was filmed by Jaws on their recent tour with Swim Deep, and offers a very raw insight to life with the band. The song itself is very chill and at times [...]
We've been avid listeners of Jaws ever since picking up a copy of their demo cd. So when we got wind that they're releasing an EP we knew we had to give it a thorough listen! "Breeze" opens up the EP and it's a summery affair with upbeat Garage-Rock mixed with some light airy guitar tones, with a catchy chorus this song is something to savour when the sun's out! Even if it's pouring down with rain (like it often does here in England) you'd still want to pick up your board and go for a surf. [...]
Jaws From: Birmingham, United Kingdom The UK has been shivering in winter's icy claws for so long now I've forgotten what sunshine feels like. Thank God for Birmi ngham boys Jaws who have served up a whole heap of sun shine with Breeze , the perfect summer anthem. [...]
I've shared my love for J A W S on Twitter, but it's time I write about them here. Named after the Bond villain by the same name, J A W S is a Birmingham band creating what they call "heavily dilated slacker-pop" making their debut US release with NY-based Cosine Records . "Surround You" is a feel-good fringed pop sound that translates the beach into song (similar to fellow Birmingham band Swim Deep ). Says the band, "Our A-side, "Surround You" dives headfirst into the future and causes ripples in [...]
J A W S are a fuzzy electro band out of Birmingham, England offering their first release for Cosine Records "Surround You" for stream and download. This song is the peppier A-side, accompanied by " Toucan Surf " a slower, drum-heavy track as a B-side. The split will be out on March 5, 2013 and is available for pre-order here. The tracks are even more impressive given that all the members in the group are under 20—so look for their initial release and more in the future from this hazy, British surf-pop group.
Good day and a merry Friday to you all! You might've noticed it's brass monkeys outside, and by brass monkeys we really mean FREEZING. It's April, for lords sake, yet we'd perish after about five minutes outside wearing only our favourite band t-shirts. We're all stuck inside wearing ten wooly jumpers instead. It's a pathetic carry-on as it is, and if you didn't have anything decent to feast your lovely ears on, it would be even worse! Fret no longer dear readers. DIY's smashing gang of writers have gathered round with cocoa and [...]
So I have to ask, do you want to be sexier, live sexier and sound sexier? Then I suggest you channel 1992 and carry a massive boom box upon your shoulders with this remix blasting out, everywhere you go. Yeah that’s right, take this shit into church, Maccas or your local RSL (and thank me later). PARA ONE & JAW brought us ‘When The Night’ with its sassy vocals and funky bass riffs, but the ' CANBLASTER Birthday Mix' takes everything that is holy about the original and blasts it into overdrive. [...]
Escucha la nueva canción de JAWS, "Breeze" Una de las bandas a las que más le apostamos en este 2013 es JAWS , el cuarteto indie rock de Birmingham que tiene una peculiar sensibilidad para crear hermosas melodías. Hace unas semanas anunciaron su nuevo EP, Milkshake , y revelaron el primer sencillo " Friend Like You ". Ahora la banda nos presenta otra encantadora pieza. " Breeze " - el lado B de " Friend Like You " - es una joya de [...]
We've had a few little gems from JAWS over the past few months and today we get another belter from the Birmingham band titled "Breeze". They're set to release an EP titled Milkshake which features the already heard " Friend Like You ", " Surround You ", and " Stay In ". This track is the last little piece of the puzzle. Lovely laid back reverb filled guitars with lyrics that'll make you long for the sun to come out and actually stay out. Give it a spin below. [...]

Monday Music’s the one post where Some Of It Was True! drops its London-only rule. Letters To Fiesta - Mesosphere Shrieky, spunky, stop-start quirk-pop from Manchester. Bloody fantastic. For all you South By Southwesters, the weekend started a week ago and never really stopped. Please, don't rub it in. But for the rest of you depraved of the joys of SXSW, we have a host of song and video premieres to get your Friday nice and festive. To start off, Tape ...
Jaws finished 2012 as our #8 band to watch in 2013, and so far it looks like they're going to deliver. A couple of weeks ago they released a stream of "A Friend Like You", which is going to be on their forthcoming début EP "Milkshake". The slow surf-rock riff opens the song and you're welcomed back into Jaw's world of light airy guitars and lovely soft warming vocal tones. "A Friend Like You" can easily be classed as their best song yet as it shows the band at their finest, and with billowing synths that give [...]
Guy Gerber ft. Jaw - Steady (G-Day Remix) This is an unofficial remix courtesy of Russian tech house producer G-Day. The original was released via Supplement Facts a few months ago but this version was actually a submission for the Remix Contest on Beatport Play. Although it didn’t win, we feel it’s well worth the share. You can’t go wrong with minimal techno especially when the production is this clean. Download it for free here .
