I discovered Jazzfinger when I started reading the Aquarius Records new arrivals lists a few years ago, and have tried to find as many of their releases as possible. Much like Machinefabriek or Jasper TX or many of those underground ambient-noise-drone bands, their output is very consistent. They release maybe five-to-ten records a year in a good year. The heat wave continues. I spent all afternoon in the Glendale Barnes and Noble reading various texts to pass the time. The few times I stepped outside I could instantly feel the sun scorching my skin. My car's thermometer measured the air temperature at 108 degrees. I'm not even sure how to begin retelling the story of the first day of this trip. Everything started out innocently enough. I awoke long before my alarm was scheduled to sound. This could be attributed to my horribly sore muscles begging for attention, or it could be related to my long history of waking up early due to distrusting alarm clocks. In the company of friends last evening, I popped the cherry on my new deep fryer. I even made the tempura batter myself, by using a vegan recipe from the Internet that everyone could enjoy. I think it called for something like a cup of flower, teaspoons of salt and pepper, one half teaspoon of baking soda, a cup of water, and a teaspoon of vinegar.
