Fun groove, sweet vocal sample.... who is Jem Stone?? Co-founder of the iconic Finger Lickin' Records (when I was learning to beatmatch on turntables, some of the first records I ever played were Finger Lickin' releases!), Jem Stone AKA Jem Panufnik has also been the man behind the Finger Lickin' sleeve art for over 15 years. Glass Pear - Welsh indie singer/songwriter Yestyn Griffiths returns with a new self-titled full-length, the follow up to his 2010 EP Sweet America and 2009 full length debut Streets of Love ...numerous Greys Anatomy -styled TV placements -- and heart-on-sleeve lyricism -- have solidified his "sensitive dude" appeal...Trivia Bit: Griffiths is also the brother of platinum-selling alt/pop-stress Jem // Release : Glass Pear (December 5 U.K.) // Sounds like : what we've described before as "calmly studied folk/pop, smoothing any rough edges or troubling intensity with a soothing [...]

I have to admit, this summer has been pretty fun. I've spent my off-time watching marathons of Jem and more recently, trapping groups of zombies and blowing them to kingdom come on Dead Island . But occasionally, I get to do some things that are actually related to music. Sure, I go to shows semi-regularly and when I do, I tend to keep them to myself. But sometimes they're extra special. Recently, Polyvinyl Records decided to invite a small group of fans to see Owen perform live in their [...]

Another short sharp shock from Jem Stone. Well, not a shock exactly, although "Perpetual Lotion" is definitely short and pretty darn sharp. Having thoroughly enjoyed the delights of his previous "Electric Circus" EP, what's on offer here will be familiar, but thankfully not in an 'oh great, more of the same' way, more in an 'oh great! More of the same!' way. If you see what I mean. Read more..

New Joint from DJ Jem. This time doing his think to a Sam Adams joint. 01 DRIVIN ME CRAZY (DJ JEM REMIX) by Djjemchicago

This is a fantastically quirky little EP. Jem Panufnik, aka Jem Stone, co-founded breakbeat label Finger Lickin' Records, has DJ'd and produced under various aliases and is also a graphic artist and composer for film and TV. You'd expect a high degree of invention from someone with a CV like that, and "Electric Circus" definitely delivers. Clocking in at less than fifteen minutes, this three track EP in no way outstays its welcome and makes a great impression while it's here. Read more..
Lovely piece of work from my good friends Mischa & Jem ... formerly one half of Soul of Man & the man behind Finger Lickin' s amazing catalogue of artwork over the years, you should check out some of Jem Stone 's recent disco jamz on SOUNDCLOUD .
Jem's cover of Paul McCartney's Maybe I'm Amazed, as featured in The O.C. Definitely not a song that makes me fall asleep but very often I ended up listening to this daydreaming. MP3: Jem - Maybe I'm Amazed

About time we got a new remix out of DJ Jem. Stay tuned. More Mixtape Monday heat coming this afternoon! Yeah 3x (DJ JEM REMIX) by Djjemchicago

The Orion constellation is visible throughout the entire world. He's been up in the sky for at least 10 million years, but it was only recently that anyone bothered to point him out to me. "See right there? That bright reddish star? That's Betelgeuse." He passed the binoculars over. Betelgeuse is a young star, and it's possible it has already exploded and that the light transmitted from that is on its way to us. If it hasn't exploded, it will soon, astronomers predict. Probably within the next one million years. In one million years, I predict I will [...]

Things are starting to get pretty busy right now. Classes are starting to move pretty quickly. Work is exciting and changing every day. I'm making new goals for thatsmyish.com and some other projects that are to come. After playlists get fined tuned and rocking, I'll be moving to work on an android app (free of course) and hopefully and iPhone app aswell! Keep your fingers crossed and we'll see how things look in the future! In the mean time, a couple songs that have helped keep my spirits up. [...]
The Ettes are still going strong after 6 years of performing.

Glass Pear , AKA Welsh singer/songwriter Yestyn Griffiths, first came on our radar last year with the release of his nicely crafted debut album Streets of Love . Then came the holiday released single "Until The Morning Come", a lovely duet performed with Griffiths' older sister Jem, the platinum-selling popster who obviously knows her way around a sweetly turned out melody (listen at DC here ). "A lot of the songs I write are about the fragility and transiency of life and love," says Griffiths. "So I wanted to find a name that expressed that." And true [...]

We officially made it. January 7th. One 3rd rock revolution around the sun. It's our first birthday. Who knows? Maybe you remember this little debut. Coincidentally around this time of year you see a lot of lists. Top ten ones to be exact. Or maybe top 50. And it's always about the year in review. Speaking of which, you know what else you always see? Drinking games. What the fuck. You know what you never see? Doing drug games. So check this out. For our birthday, I'm not going to give you some silly top ten list, [...]
![[DECADEnce] The Top 25 TV Shows of the 00s](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2238353_lg.jpg)
Welcome to DECADEnce! For this week and this week only, I'm going to step slightly away from 100% music coverage to bring you a little taste of the other aspects of pop culture. Okay, so there'll really be about two days of those "other" aspects, and even then I'm going to try and work some mp3s in for ya. But kicking things off, and I have no plans to do this for the rest of my lists this week so enjoy it while it lasts, I'm naming my Top 25 TV Shows of the 00s. You may or may not [...]
Tis the season for family get-togethers, so we were happy to check out the new sibling seasonal collaboration between Welsh singer/songwriters Jem and her younger brother Yestyn Griffiths, aka Glass Pear . "Until the Morning Comes", available digitally, is much more of a Glass Pear styling, a ravishing folk/pop melody that has "classic" written all over it. With it's references to "snow falling"and "the greatest gift I could receive" and "blessings from above", "Morning Comes" is as inviting as a warm cup o' tea on a cold December daybreak. Glass Pear Myspace [...]

Jem's sophomore album, Down To Earth , was so stale that slipped off of the radar right after it was released. But, this song is the savior from it. It has a bit of Spanish beat and they lyrics are hummable, to say the least. There were rumors of a new album, but this video makes it look like she is on her second campaign still.
