Disclosure – Latch

Disclosure - Latch feat. Sam Smith (Official Video)
Disclosure – Latch Warning, things are about to get hot and heavy up in here. Seriously, this video has multiple couples literally “latching” on to each other ushered by new comer and collaborator Sam Smith’s silky vocals perfectly capturing that feeling of the first time you fall head over heels in love with someone. In the way that you can’t keep your hands off each other and can’t wait to get them home alone. Oh man, that is the best! NORTH AMERICAN [...]

Rhye - The Fall

Rhye - The Fall Rhye - The Fall Not much is known about this soulful LA duo reminiscent of a young Sade that seemed to have appeared out of thin air and release on of my favorite little EP’s of the year .  Like me, you probably fell hard for Rhye after hearing their first single “ Open .”All I can really say is that I wish the EP was more than three songs. I guess I’ll have to wait patiently like everyone else for their upcoming LP which has been rumored to drop in February 2013.

Tiger Dare - Coffee

Tiger Dare - Coffee Tiger Dare - Coffee Here’s a debut single worth listening to you from brooklyn-based Tiger Dare. If you’re into Widowspeak then you’ll probably dig this mellow little gem with it’s jangly guitar melody pushing it along. You might also learn a few little life lessons by listening closely to the lyrics. “The love you make in August is worth twice as much when it snows.” True that! Tiger Dare are in the midst of recording their debut EP. You can keep up with their progress over on their site tigerdare.tumblr.com . [...]

Soft Spot - Disciple Fix

Soft Spot - Disciple Fix Soft Spot - Disciple Fix Long time friends (since kindergarten)  Sarah Kinlaw and Bryan Keller decided to start making music together in 2009.  After teaming up with artist and drummer Andrew Spaulding in the Spring of 2011, the band evolved and saw the release of an EP entitled NOUS .    For a three piece their sound is surprisingly lush and layered. Sarah’s voice will undoubtedly enrapture you. “Disciple Fix” is the second single off their upcoming debut full length  Enso  which they will be releasing themselves [...]

Breakfast In Fur - Die Pflaz Breakfast In Fur - Die Pflaz Known for creating lush layers of indie folk-pop  Breakfast In Fur  are back at it again lending three new tracks to Team Love Records  Die Pflaz  compilation disc which also features local artists Shana Falana, Blood Letters, and Cycad.  Die Pfalz by Breakfast in Fur

Apes & Horses

Apes & Horses Apes & Horses About three weeks back I was checking out Stadiums & Shrines website revamp (it looks great you should have a look) and I came across Parisian “Magenta” indie rockers Apes & Horses. I must have listened to the track ten times in a row and each time my heart nearly burst in to a billion bloody little pieces. While the four piece sounds tight and polished you will see that the lead singers voice has that certain je ne sais quoi. In “Miracles” the track below he seems to be [...]

Big Surr - Baked and Bruised

Big Surr - Baked and Bruised Big Surr - Baked and Bruised I love when beach pop isn’t produced anywhere near a beach. Listening to the lo-fi fuzzy beach pop created by Nashville locals Big Surr you would never know the difference.  A few months back they released this three track EP with the folks over at Beach Tapes . My personal favorite and first track “Cosine Tangent” has a pretty amazing guitar solo around 4:10 which for one perfect minute brings you straight out of the fuzziness before dropping you back in for the rest of the EP. I [...]

Oren Lyons - Forever Found

Oren Lyons - Forever Found Oren Lyons - Forever Found About two weeks I was introduced via email inbox (see I do read them) to this single from emerging LA based group Oren Lyons. This past January the group was formed by  multi-instrumentalist composer Gueorgui Linev (formerly of Lonely Trees). You can hear his orchestral influence all over this track and it’s simply gorgeous.  Lead singer Kristianne Bautista vocals  are so sultry and powerful as they wind their way perfectly through the grand instrumentation. As far as I can tell “Forever Found” is the [...]

NEW TRACK: Abadabad - All The Bros Say

NEW TRACK: Abadabad - All The Bros Say NEW TRACK: Abadabad - All The Bros Say You know I’ve got mad love for the music bros especially when they are a talented  bunch hailing from my hometown of Boston.  Today my favorite Boston bros Abadabad released the first single “All The Bros Say” off their up coming EP  The  Wild.  When I heard their first single “California Birds” last year I immediately knew these Berkley School of Music grads had something pretty special going on. I even went as far as to put them on my ones to [...]

White Denim - Gas On F

White Denim - Gas On F White Denim -  Gas On F Last year I posted White Denim’s” River To Consider ” deeming it one of the only acceptable instances I could find to use Jazz Flute in a rock composition sans  Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull.  Just this week White Denim released two songs most likely out takes from their Takes Place In Your Workspace EP.  My favorite being “Gas On F” which is a meandering classic rock inspired track. I [...]

El Gato La Virgen & El Diablo -...

El Gato La Virgen & El Diablo - Pilletu “Pilletu” is the first single from El Gato La Virgen & El Diablo which translates toThe Cat Lady and The Devil. While the track is great on its own it’s spectacular if you listen to it on the special site he’s created that features the little clips you see above. The clips are meant to be activated as the song is being played. The really add some extra depth to the the track. So simple yet so brilliant! soundcloud | facebook

The Suits - Matriarch

The Suits - Matriarch The Suits - Matriarch Last week my boy Jimmy over at Head Underwater  tweeted me saying “Have you listened to The Suits. I feel like you’d be into them.” For those of you who know Jimmy you know when he makes a suggestion you should probably listen. I pressed play and I’ve been pressing it over and over again since. He was right I’m in to them. Especially this track.  You can listen to their whole self titled EP over on SoundCloud . Thanks for the suggestion Jimmy!

[NEW VIDEO] No Doubt - Settle Down

No Doubt - Settle Down
[NEW VIDEO] No Doubt - Settle Down There will never be a day when I won’t blog a No Doubt video. Tragic Kingdom is burned on to my 90’s teenage bones. I’m stoked to see Gwen took off her high heels and is getting back to what made this band so great. Now all we need is that bindi back and the pink hair too.

VIDEO: Rudy Zygadlo - Melpomene

Rudi Zygadlo - Melpomene (Planet Mu - 2012)
VIDEO: Rudy Zygadlo -  Melpomene Even though Zygadlo put out an LP with Planet Mu Records two years ago the first time a had every heard one of his compositions was about nine months ago. The track was “ Variously Made Men ” and it blew me away. I’ve been waiting for new material from him ever since and finally it’s arrived with the video above for “Melpomene” a beautifully constructed ballad who name is taken from the Greek muse. As in “Variously Made Men” [...]

NEW MUSIC: Fang Island - Sisterly

NEW MUSIC: Fang Island - Sisterly NEW MUSIC: Fang Island - Sisterly I’ve always liked Fang Island, but they were never top of my list. With this new single “Sisterly” I may have to revaluate. Their sophomore release  Major  is set to drop July 24th. You can pre-order it here if you’re so inclined.  facebook | twitter | bandcamp

Wonderhouse - Use Me Up

Wonderhouse - Use Me Up Wonderhouse - Use Me Up Remember the huge buzz Meg Myers created on the interwebs about three months ago? Dr. Rosen Rosen the producer and co-writer of Myers’   Daughter In The Choir EP   is back at it again taking on singer songwriter  Marie Mooreshead  as his new creative partner.  The collaborative project is known as Wanderhouse and it’s first child, “Use Me Up” is a beauty. Off the bat the even toned slow building instrumentals reminded me of The XX, but Moores sultry vocals are what really knock it out [...]

Delicate Steve - Two Lovers

Delicate Steve - Two Lovers Delicate Steve - Two Lovers What can I say, I have so much love for this gangly NJ boy. I just ordered his first album Wondervisions on vinyl from Luka Bop which made or Top 50 of 2011 list. You should pop over on his bandcamp page  if you still haven’t had a listen.  He’s set to release a new albumPositive Force this July and he’s been releasing singles here and there which have been getting me super excited. Proving once again in Zappa like fashion that you don’t need [...]

NEW VIDEO: CocoRosie - We Are On Fire

CocoRosie - We Are On Fire
NEW VIDEO: CocoRosie - We Are On Fire Over the past month CocoRosie has released both singles off her new 7”. The video above is for the A side and first single “We Are On Fire.” We haven’t heard much from her since Grey Oceans in 2010 and it’s exciting to see that she’s back to work and that Touch and Go records is back from hiatus this being their first release since 2009. Not a bad way to kick it off.  Below is the second song off her new 7” “Tearz For Animals” featuring vocals from Antony [...]
