What's in a name? If you're Stephen Malkmus apparently not quite enough. Last year's Pavement reunion show at the Tabernacle sold out in no time at all and was the event of the season for many. Despite just releasing what may be the best record he has ever made while away from that band, you would think that Malkmus was returning to town under the cover of night so little has been made of his coming appearance this Sunday at the Variety Playhouse. One of the few good things to come out of the University of Virginia in the last century was the cult indie-rock outfit Pavement and their lead singer Stephen Malkmus . Unfortunately Pavement disbanded in 1999, but since then Malkmus has produced several fantastic indie-pop-rock records with his backing band, the Jicks. Their most recent release may be their best effort yet. The music on Mirror Traffic is tighter than ever before, but Malkmus seems more lose and relaxed, reinvigorated even, and his delivery is spot on. Indie rock icon, Stephen Malkmus (shown above festooned with fanny pack) and his band The Jicks recently released their latest LP, Mirrored Traffic. Now we have a kitchy and playful video which takes literal aim at the one of the tracks title, Tigers, featuring interesting factoids on the massive carnivorous mammals as well as some hijinks from some grown men in tiger costumes. Yay.

But this time, it's a fully-produced, brand new music video ( via COS ) from the Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks for their newest (and killer) single 'Tigers' (off their newest LP Mirror Traffic ).
