Like Water the first track from the Peep: the aPROcalypse mixtape featuring Joey Bada$$ , Cj Fly , and Capital STEEZ (R.I.P) gets a video treatment from Jonah Schwartz . The video seems straight forward, (rappers from New York rapping in New York) but if you look at their surroundings you'll notice major damage to the city. Late last year, Pro Era, the crew of teenage Brooklyn boom-bap revivalists led by Joey Bada$$, released their all-crew PEEP The aPROcalypse mixtape. Three days later, the group member Capital Steez was dead, having taken his own life at the age of 19. "I guess my record is too wreckless for the record business." Video-director, Jonah Schwartz plays off the inherent playfulness in the Freddie Gibbs & Madlib record, "Shame", to create this new music video, which also features BJ The Chicago Kid.  Gibbs stars a drug-dealer who gives his customer a little something extra each time.  Watch the clip below.

The new video for " Shame ," the follow-up, has the same director in Jonah Schwartz and some of the same ominous cinema-verite tactics, but its depiction of the life is a very different one. If this week's music videos have anything in common, it's that many of them are flush with violence and disturbing visions. But my two favorite of the week didn't have any of that, even though the razor gloves and anthropomorphic horses probably could've been freakout material in other directors' hands. Instead, Perfume Genius and Nat Baldwin gave us perfectly sweet and romantic, albeit weird, visions. Check out our picks below. Read More...

Back in November, the stoner-rap production mastermind Madlib and the virtuosic Indiana tough-guy rapper Freddie Gibbs teamed up for a single called " Thuggin' ," which proved that they two had way better collaborative chemistry than you might expect. They've also got an album together coming out, but in the brand-new "Thuggin'" video, Gibbs seems bent on reminding the world that he is nobody's idea of a backpacker, no matter which producer he might be working with. As a rule, Curren$y and I should be the rap frenemies. I'm a Ford guy while he raps about being "bowtie 'til I die." I don't hate Chevrolets so much as I prefer Fords. Saul Goode though because at least they're both American brands. So I support the homie and PT II will be my final compact disc purchase to round out 2010.
