You may remember Juan Pieczanski from the internet show "Juan's Basement." The premise of the show was that Juan interviewed bands in his basement. Generally this was followed by a live performance. People liked it so much that Pitchfork TV picked up the show. Well, according to Juan, the project had a good run, but it was time to move on. So what was he doing playing bass for Small Black and Washed Out at SXSW? I caught up with Juan over the phone to get some answers while he lounged poolside in Arizona, one stop [...]

Juan's Basement: Wild Beast - All the King's Men How does one get to have a series like this? How did Juan luckbox his way into this?? "You mean I have to have upcoming artist come play in my basement while I record their audio and video? And you're going to pay me?" I suggest you check out the whole play list of Wild Beast's performance over at pitchfork.tv .

Wild Beasts [ MySpace ] are the latest band to perform in "Juan's Basement". I am still quite mad that Pitchfork got the show to themselves , but they are a BIT bigger, right? Their latest album is a big ol' slice of rad entitled Two Dancers (and we've given you a peek at their live stuff before), so you should check out "Hooting and Howling" from Juan's Basement "after the jump" [...]

What feels like years ago, our own Dan Berkman wanted Radio Exile (then known as Broken Dial) to reach out to the fine folks behind Juan's Basement and hook up with them regarding promoting their show on the web. It was a good idea, so it goes without saying that every time I see their latest episodes or a clip from the series over at Pitchfork.TV , there's a tinge of sadness for what could have been. That's what happens when you drag your feet ( note: that's me making fun of me, [...]
more about " Little Secrets - Passion Pit ", posted with vodpod Passion Pit performing for Pitchfork on Juan's Basement series. Sleepyhead was the first song before the interview followed by "The Reeling" and finally, "Little Secrets". passion pit-sleepy head Passion Pit gracefully bowed out of their slot for this year's MFNW in Portland replacing them James Mercer from The Shins. As much as we love James YATM was not happy [...]
Recently, Passion Pit recorded a few videos for Pitchfork TV 's awesome series Juan's Basement. The band put on such a great show back in June here in Austin, we can't wait to catch the band again this weekend at Monolith Fest in Colorado. And then again at ACL ! "Sleepyhead" "The Reeling" "Little Secrets"

The group stopped by Juan's Basement and played Sleepyhead . The East Coasters will be at Monolith this weekend and my giddiness is only getting worse by the day. [...]
I like this rocking rendition of "Murder Babe" that Blitzen Trapper performed in Juan's Basement. The Pitchfork.tv segment features the band playing a few more gems-"God & Suicide," "Wild Mountain Nation" and "Lady On the Water"-in addition to the lighthearted interview with Juan, who's not nearly as funny as he thinks he is.
Enlace: Broken Social Scene: Part 1 of 2: Stars and Sons Comparte esta anotación

[Photo by thecobrasnake ] A lot of people ask me if alternative males can be anything other than the traditional alternative bro (also commonly referred to as the altBro). There is a genre of alternative men who can be more douchebaggy than bro-ish. Instead of seeking the camraderie/tugs that altbros want, altBags are driven by money/status/altFame/other alternative ideals. AltBags no longer pride themselves in receiving the tugjobs of entrylevel alt girls who they accidentally end up in a 6-12 month relationship with. Altbags usually shape their personal [...]
Who is this Juan guy? And how come he has the coolest basement? M83 was there recently, below with Kim and Jessie . More at P4K

via only angels have wings I'd never really caught onto the Walkmen hype back in 2004 when they released Bows + Arrows , off which "Little House of Savages" is probably the most well-known track (Thank you, The O.C. ). As a bright-eyed freshman in college, I had no idea who the Walkmen were or why I should be excited about their being the main act for our fall concert. Was it because one of the members was an alum? Possibly. Given that I lived [...]

Last week Juan's Basement , a segment on Pitchfork.tv silently threw up a 3 part music video and interview series on my favorite Baltimore-based duo, Beach House . If you don't know this band yet you are seriously missing out. My favorite clips from the session are the Apple Orchard videos (Apple Orchard might also be one of the best songs to come out of the past 5 years). Check the rest out on Pitchfork.tv by clicking the links that follow: Part 3 of 3 - Apple Orchard [...]
