"RP Boo – a.k.a. Kavain Space is a man who is revered and respected amongst the dance music cognoscenti. He’s cited as one of the originators of Footwork, the fast, repetitive, rhythmically syncopated music & dance style that’s a grandchild of Chicago house and which has been brought to the wider world via releases from Planet Mu and others, alongside internet archaeology from fans, experts and enthusiasts."

Top Billin's favorite ghetto house specialist DJ Venum never stops. After dropping 2 great ep's of original material, as well as some exclusive garage tunes for our compilations, it's time for his 3rd ep for the label. We know Venum is no stranger to any music style as long as it has that raw vibe, and this release is not an expection. This time in addition to ghetto house, Venum drops material with influences from trap and UK bass and even Baltimore club. Mix all these influences with his signature style of ghetto beats and we got once again a [...]

Welcome one of the best Swedish releases of 2013 to the world, the "Svensk Bas Vol. 1" compilation by Svensk Bas. As I've mentioned before, Svensk Bas is a new Swedish label founded by Stockholm based DJs/producers Marcus Price, Baba Stiltz, Cristian Dinamarca and Henry Rodrick. The labels first release features four cuts, one from each member, already previewed Cristian Dinamarca's wonderful ' Oh ' and here goes the rest of the release that dropped today (cop off iTunes here ) Marcus Price and Baba Stilz' - 'Kasettband', Marcus Price remix of Wax Master Maurice's 'Jump [...]

The second Pop That was an even bigger party than the first - with Levins, Shantan and special guest Sampology all playing a mix of rap and exciting club sounds. The crowd warmed up to Shantan's wild cub remixes of new rap and and r&b, lost their minds to Sampology's set which featured everything from juke, dancehall and trap, then danced as the sun rose and Levins finished the night with a mix of all things mellow. Pop That will return later in the year with more DJs pushing an eclectic mix of club sounds. Stay [...]
![Kode9 — Xingfu Lu / Kan EP [Hyperdub]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4922337_lg.jpg)
Kode9 has finally released his first single in two years thanks to his very own Hyperdub imprint. Dropping sounds a long way from the UFK-infected house music the producer released in Black Sun in 2011, Xingfu Lu, which we know has actually been around for about a year, stirs up massive footwork sounds while moving away from an ordinary juke record. In the unbeatable words of Boomkat; "it's properly dubwise, its sickened, weasly synthesizer lines and chopped-to-f**k drums seem designed less to mobilise your feet than to stir up the voices in your head. This is properly fractured, paranoid head [...]

The lords of the dance Levins and Shantan are returning to the Goodgod Dancereria for the second ever POP THAT - the night that bridges the gap between rap and club sounds from all over the world. This time they've invited a friend from Brisbane to join the festivities - a young wizard by the name of SAMPOLOGY who has just returned from his American tour! We'll be playing all things rappy and trappy, poppy and sloppy. Come shake your butts with this trio of kool DJs. Here is a mix by Sam to get [...]
DJ Spinn and DJ Rashad: Breaking down boundaries with juke and footwork “Dancers from Chicago really like bass, claps, something crazy, something unexpected… that’s what we tried to keep up.” Tales of the origins of juke and footwork from two of the originators, during their intimate lecture at Red Bull Music Academy Madrid 2011 . DJ Spinn and DJ Rashad talk of growing up in Chicago, the nightclub scene in their native city and how it played a role in their exposure [...]

1 year ago net-label Astro Nautico , released Atlantics Vol. 2 - a sprawling collection of tracks by talented friends + artists from around the world. This year, they asked a completely different group of fresh faces to contribute, & the result is something special. Not nearly as ambitious in scope as the previous installment (although pretty damn close) Volume 3 is a more concise & understated compilation, but no less engaging by any means. Spanning genres as disparate as hi-fi footwork & grainy new wave, it’s [...]

Oh oh oh, what do we have here? Cristian Dinamarca has probably done his best tune 'til this date, that's for damn sure. 'Oh' drops the 3rd of May on the new Swedish label Svensk Bas dedicated to release bass music from Sweden founded by Stockholm based DJs/producers Marcus Price, Baba Stiltz, Cristian Dinamarca and Henry Rodrick on the labels first release "Svensk Bas vol. 1". The release will also feature cuts from the Liberty City inspired Kassettband (Baba Stiltz & Marcus Price) and OG juke courtesy of Mr. Henry Rodrick's rework of the STHLM classic Linje [...]
Rwina Records' first release of 2013 is brought to us in the form of a collaboration between Taz and Akka. Their 'Synergy EP' consists of four tracks which provide one with a rather solid bass sound. Remarkably, these tracks combine trap and juke elements with nostalgic 80s synths, presenting an intriguing atmosphere of melancholy throughout the EP. Nonetheless, this well-produced release remains to be energetic and suited for dance floors. Out now (digital/vinyl). https://soundcloud.com/rwina_r ecords/taz-akka-synergy-ep-rwi na021

Fracture - 'Better Than Tomorrow' / 'Gangbusters' (METHXX02) Metalheadz have been a bit quiet of late but the last few weeks have seen a small spate of activity with Rufige Kru's Vanilla VIP doing the rounds for free download and a 12” from newly signed album artists Ulterior Motive. All good stuff but this week EDJ favourite, Fracture lends his Midas touch to the label for his debut 12” on the ‘XX’ series of releases that started with Commix’s ‘Double Double’ a couple of years ago. Not sure what the ‘XX’ [...]
Holy Moly I love a bit of footwork/footwerk/footwurk ... or juke/whatever. DJ Rashad said himself before the mix that there's no real difference. Someone has done the honourable thing and posted a rip from Benji B's BBC Radio 1 show from Thursday on Mixcloud. Bumpin'.
![Donkong – Turn It Up : Funky Tropical Moombahton Trap [Free Download]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4861965_lg.jpg)
Donkong is a versatile electronic producer from Germany who takes mixes the "molecular base of trap, moombahton, juke, dubstep , and tropical bass sounds" and throws them in a pot and stirs it all up. The result is an extra fresh unique breed of bass music he is call the WTF Is Molly Grit EP . This is the first song "Turn It up" and throws us into a ping pong sound filled masterpiece that will have you moving you head in no time. Excited for the the rest of the EP sponsored [...]
foodman is an electronic music producer I've been following on SoundCloud for months now. His account is one of many that I've run across whose owner doesn't really have an album or much industry status, yet, he prolifically pumps out material that's refreshing and oddly creative. Though foodman's tracks are usually short, they make up for it with intricately confusing details that never cease, really. Nearly every song on this dude's soundcloud is a challenge to dissect-especially since most of them come from a juke and footwork background, which are already detail-dense genres. Here's a [...]

OM Unit and Sam Binga - 'Small Victories EP' (EXIT044) There has, for quite sometime in the world of ambiguously pigeon-holed, 130bpm, contemporary electronic music, been lots of juke/footwork influences. Influences derived from a once lesser known breed of music, spawned in Chicago back in the late eighties running typically at around 160bpm, you'd think that it lends itself to a natural hybrid with the faithful mongrel that is drum and bass music. But in reality dnb has been a little late in joining the Juke brigade, until Fracture hit us with Get Busy [...]
I'm fully loving the ambient influence in heavier dance genres like Juke and Dubstep. I really have no idea where we are in electronic music these days, and that's perfect, really. With Jacques Greene style vocal treatment and dark synth pads under the mellow half-time/double-time drums, Tourist is the soundtrack to skinny dipping in a secret lake you stumbled on while coming down from a life-changing acid trip. Nervous energy builds while you peel off your sweaty layers and misplace one of your shoes, but it's like "fuck it," when is shit going to be [...]
Repetition is said to be a sign of insanity and by that virtue DJ Rashad must be crazy. Rollin is an assault of sound and chopped up samples that rarely lets up. But these aren't necessarily bad qualities especially when ... Continued
