For those of you who don't count watching LL Cool J try to act on NCIS: Los Angeles as getting your Tuesday night music fix, I suggest heading over to the Drake for a solid triple bill of local indie rock. The show will be the final one for melodic roots musician Craig Strickland before he barricades himself inside the studio to record his debut LP. Check out Strickland's video for "Follow The Leader" here: Brent Jackson of [...]

Got a bit of a Ben Howard special for you today folks, that wasn't meant to be a pun, honest… As you may well have gathered by this stage we here at HMCMB are huge fans of the Devonshire singer songwriter, his album, "Every Kingdom" being one of my favourites of 2011, more about that HERE . I was lucky enough to catch him live at The Junction, Cambridge last Thursday, in a show that more than exceeded already high expectations. It was pleasing to see just how many people had turned up, from a [...]

I Break Horses – "Winter Beats"
My girlfriend and now fiancée first introduced me to Smog/Bill Callahan. There's something very human, natural and honest about his voice that I love; the way he frees words and leaves them bare. The video above is a video for a Smog track called "I Break Horses" (and yes, this is another preview for what's to come on The Iceberg). Here is the latest interview I did with a local psychedelic band The Hoa Hoa's on BlogTO. They have this song called "Blue Gumball" , [...]

On June 9th I went to two different shows. This one was at the Live Lounge. Playing there were: The Gallop Right by Midnight which I missed out due to being at the other show. Paramedics The Junction [...]
Here is part 2 of who I or you should check out at NXNE in Toronto. So this will be Thursday night's event. It is going to be busy insane Thursday at NXNE. A hard decision to choose on who to see badly. Let's check out who will be playing. Found out that from Thursday to Sunday there is going to be a " Live in Bellwoods " picnic series at Trinity Bellwoods Park. It is present by The Musebox and Humble Empire. [...]

Frank Yang I would say that a band that's been around as long, as influential and as consistently excellent as The Wedding Present has been over their quarter-century existence is entitled to a little indulgence, and what better occasion than the 21st anniversary of one of your most beloved albums? But indulgence isn't the Wedding Present's style, so rather than make a big production of it, they rolled into town on Wednesday night to do their thing, same as they've done a number of times since David Gedge put [...]

Bit of a condensed version of the video hits this week, as starting a new project at a new company has left me jammed like it was Julius and I was Mike Cooper trying not to get flushed on . But it's Thursday, and you fine folks want videos, not my sob stories, so lets have at it. Vancouver's Yukon Blonde has blown up a bit. The Ack was complementary of the band as he tried to short-circuit the Fleet Foxes comparisons before they got up a head of steam, and I said [...]
The Junction recently finished the video for their second single No Road and are about to play some key dates in Toronto before doing another North East US and Eastern Canada run. next up is April 17th @ Lee's Palace performing with Amos the Transparent and The Darcys Check out the facebook event
Brampton, ON post-punk rockers The Junction have just release the video for the ass-kicking track "No Road" from their latest album Another Link In the Chain. Check out the nice heavy groove and surprisingly effective horns about 2/3 of the way through: The Junction play Lee's Palace in Toronto on April 17th. The Junction's website The Junction's Myspace
Tonight's song is from the Brampton, Ontario trio The Junction , and their sophomore LP "Another Link in the Chain", released on July 29th of this year. The album follows-up the band's 2007 self-titled debut effort, released via Universal Records . Since the release of Another Link in the Chain, momentum seems to be steadily building for the band. My Love Was There was picked up by the Greater Toronto Area station The Edge , and found it's way into an episode of the current installment in the Degrassi High series. Even more [...]

This is the first official installment of the Impressionable Youth Tardy Series. Sometimes (a lot of the times) great music ends up getting lost in our inbox. If we eventually find it and like it, you'll see it here. It's old news, but it's good news. Sorry we were tardy! A friend of mine's first reaction to seeing Brent Jackson (center) was "Omigod, Jesus!" The Band: The Junction The Album: Another [...]

Here at The Blue Walrus, we've all been massive fans of Mumford & Sons since the boys first hit the road a couple of years back, so much so that there was almost a punch up when I beat Tim to it and featured the band here not so long ago. Seeing them at the Cambridge Junction on Sunday marked the fifth time I've gone out to see the band play, and the boys are still absolutely magnificent. Made up of four multi-instrumentalists who are talent-soaked up to their very pretty ears, Mumford & Sons aren't [...]

Brent Jackson (guitar/vocals), Matt Jameson (bass) & Mike Taylor (drums) have been writing music together long enough to have found themselves a comfortable niche in the Canadian music scene. ... **Summary** Go to website for downloads, videos & more.

Reviews of Burn Planetarium and The Junction Burn Planetarium - Burn Planetarium EP Although I reviewed an album called Valse Mechanique last year by this little five piece from Guelph, Burn Planetarium are referring to this self titled EP as their actual debut and although the production quality has certainly improved, the ingredients are still pretty much the same. The songs are catchy, jangly, shouty blasts of power pop that are fun to bop [...]

Like i promised, here is some Junction.A Canadian band from Brampton, Ontario. God I just love Canadian bands! So there infamous track "My Love was there" is insanely catchy, and overall a great song, and this band seems like they will last. Something I found ridiculous was that The Junction were signed onto Universal, however Universal dropped them a while later. I wonder how those bastards feel now; now that the band is becoming quite popular. Anyways here are the tracks (these are not on drop.io they are direct downloads): [...]
new video from The Junction. looks great.
