As Kanye West has continued to progress his career, he has continued to bring in more producers to help me craft his next big sound. One of those producers has been !llmind, who is now liberating a selection of songs that he had created for the use of West during the 2012 Cruel Summer days. !llmind did make the cut with "The Morning", but he had a few more cuts that he still wanted to share. They are now available below for your streaming pleasure. Here is what !llmind had to say about the [...]

The G.O.O.D. Music crew had a huge year with the release of Cruel Summer . This record top to bottom has some of the best production in hip hop along with some of hip hops biggest names. "Mercy" is the standout track in my opinion, especially the verses from Pusha T and 2 Chainz . Pusha T has emerged as the stand out lyricist of the entire crew, combining clever quips with street credibility. Kanye West - Mercy (feat. Big Sean, Pusha T, & 2 Chainz) [from Cruel Summer ] [...]

As previously rumored, Kanye West and the rest of the G.O.O.D. Music crew have announced a follow-up to last season’s massive Cruel Summer LP. The rumor was confirmed by fellow G.O.O.D. Music member Big Sean earlier today in an interview with DJ Semtex, referring to one of his past tracks with the group: “You gotta wait and see, man, I don’t know,” he said. “It can’t be Cruel Spring . It’s gotta be in a timely fashion. I know I did something for it, for Cruel Winter [...]

Remember when Q-Tip & Pusha hinted about this project during the red carpet interviews at the BET Awards. Well today, Kanye released the trailer for his upcoming short film, Cruel Winter. The Austin Christianson film will definitely be an interesting follow-up to West's Runway film, especially with the 1961 New World Order speech by President Eisenhower used in the trailer. Hit the jump and prepare for the NWO.
First, Q-Tip hinted that G.O.O.D. Music had every intention of following their Cruel Summer album with the sequential Cruel Winter. While we're not sure if Tip's been designated the official [...] The post 9 Things We Would Like To Hear With G.O.O.D. Music's "Cruel Winter" appeared first on The Smoking Section .

With 'Cruel Summer' out of the way, Pusha-T is back working on his forthcoming solo project, which is expected to drop next year. "Pain" is the latest single from the aforementioned LP and it features a catchy hook by Future plus the usual epic production by our very own Kanye West & No I.D.. This one definitely bangs, listen below!

Welcome back, Cudder. Between the Cruel Summer standout "Creepers," the previously released "Just What I Am", and the new "King Wizard", it's apparent that Kid Cudi is back with a vengeance, and he knows it. The track's release was accompanied by a tweet from Scott Mescudi proclaiming, "mark my words, INDICUD will be the greatest album ever made. Know that I'm not lying." An empowering hook and one of the best first verses he's delivered since "Heart of a Lion" have me inclined to not temper any lofty expectations I might have [...]
It would stand to reason that of all the heavyweight rap collectives that exist in 2012, Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music would have as good a chance as any to transcend [...] The post "To The World" - Review Of G.O.O.D. Music's Cruel Summer appeared first on The Smoking Section .

"The lingering is that for Kanye, when it comes to collaboration, it appears that less is definitely more..." Kanye West & Various Artists | Cruel Summer Kanye West is without doubt one of the most famous hip-hop artists of modern day history, but even creating Cruel Summer must have taken some organisation on his part. You see, this isn't just Kanye's album, this is an album created by a Kanye-formed hip hop supergroup entitled G.O.O.D. If anyone thought Kanye had a slight God complex creating such a group (see the spelling link [...]

Kanye West acts as the ringleader for Cruel Summer , rapping in the album opener “To The World,” sticking around until the album feels too disjointed, and becoming less involved than one might imagine, considering he’s the keystone to this particular rap clique. Cruel Summer also seems centered around promoting ass-obsessed young-gun Big Sean , the newly rebranded 2 Chainz , and the gruff OG Pusha T since [...]
“It’s our offering, as a collective, of a sonic snapshot of what’s happening right now, 2012, this cruel summer.”

Kanye West has certainly become one to collaborate. Single All of the Lights from his 2010 album ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ features no less than fourteen additional vocalists (most of which can barely be heard). And of course there’s last year’s lauded collaborative album ‘Watch The Throne’ with Jay-Z. And now he releases the first mixtape from his G.O.O.D record label, set up back in 2004 (standing for Getting Out Our Dreams). ‘Cruel Summer’ [...]

Yesterday I posted a picture of my copy of Cruel Summer on instagram. Some commenters, as well as other offline, asked me why I decided to buy the LP, some saying it wasn't worth the purchase. I bought the record because as a fan of the music, I wanted to have Kanye's new work. It's another album in his catalog and an offering his creativity. I also bought it because of the story behind the album, which Kanye talks about in this new clip. That's why I decided to buy it.
Yeezy takes a second out of his NEW GOD life to paint a picture of Cruel Summer for the people.
Kanye West is right up there with the most polarizing figures in modern music. It's not worth going into all of his antics or questionable decisions under the public eye; it's been overdone. Since he's cut off any and all forms of press, it's rare these days to find him ... Read More

After whispers of Hudson Mohawke buddying up with Kanye, officially adding keys to posse cut Mercy and remixing (and arguably improving) the lead single for a lark to create Lambo Furnace , now the Glaswegian has wound up on Cruel Summer with something original. Well, sort of. Bliss lifts a beat called Ice Viper released three years ago, a surprise considering the anticipation that's been building for Cruel Summer . (Mr West also jacked Chief Keef's breakout hit I Don't Like. ) [...]

Welcome to the premiere of This Far, a column which I'll be writing every two weeks here on the WRMC blog and moving over to the new website once it airs on the web. In this column, I will be reviewing a recently released hip-hop album, with the occasional mixtape thrown in, in an attempt to help you wade through the flood of beats and bars that hit the internet everyday, so that you only listen to the dopest of the dope. I will be reviewing a range of albums, from the obscure to the [...]

Kanye West 's G.O.O.D. Music Cruel Summer compilation may not be a proper Yeezy album, but like a president he'll get all the credit if it succeeds and the blame if it fails. As it should be, since he had a hand — credited or not — in every song on the record. Fortunately for Kanye, it's getting generally positive — but not raving — reviews. Most outlets are in agreement that the opening salvo of tracks is lean and mean and effective. Unfortunately for Kanye, reviewers seem to agree [...]
