An arduous grind, numerous mixtape releases, a BET cypher and G.O.O.D. Music over everything is what lead Sean Anderson to this point where he can kick his feet up and enjoy the fruits of his labor with his debut studio effort, Finally Famous: The Album . Calling upon half the industry to join in on the celebration, try before you buy as the likes of Wiz Khalifa, Pharrell/The Neptunes, Lupe Fiasco, Rick Ross and of course, Kanye West among others help Big Sean live out his dreams of becoming a [...]

I knew GOOD was an acronym for something. Growing out of denim? Getting off of drugs? George Orwell On Demand? It turns out that the “GOOD” in Kanye West’s “GOOD Music,” stands for Getting Out Our Dreams, but “good” doesn’t quite accurately represent the label. The first definition of “good” in Webster’s Dictionary is “of favorable character or tendency.” When someone uses the word “good,” they generally mean satisfactory, perhaps a little better. However, since GOOD Music was [...]

If you saw the all-star tracklist for Big Sean's Finally Famous: The Album , the proposed "Marvin Gaye & Chardonnay" undoubtedly had you wondering which side of the fence this manufactured combination would fall on. On paper, pitting the ultra-anticipated-album's coveted Yeezy feature alongside the radio-proven and borderline-annoying Roscoe Dash seemed like a risk you'd run only if the song were a surefire single capable of justifying such stark contrasts of style. Right? Well, here it is. Loud, lewd and questionable. As much as I'd love to embrace BIG and [...]

After Kanye's righthand man Virgil Abloh tweeted that G.O.O.D. Music had signed another artist on Tuesday night, it was only a matter of time before the case was cracked on who the artist was. All signs point to Nigerian label Mo'Hits, whose flagship artist D'Banj took to Twitter to confirm the speculation: Just like yesterday myself and my brother did Tongolo. 7yrs later Mo' Hits signs with Good Music. Best birthday gift ever. God thank u So it appears the deal was more than just an [...]

So apparently Cudder is done smoking weed. Could have fooled me... but seriously this track bumps. Love the new sound approach he's taking. This just got unleashed on the TwitterWorld within the last half hour or so, so get it while it's hot! Download: KiD CuDi - Perfect Is The Word [Audio clip: view full post to listen]

Off GLC & Taylor Chip Presents: The Fellowship of The Ism , a new cut from some Chicago greats. Coolest part of this track? Drummer & trumpets from Kids These Days on it. But seriously enough with the Charlie Sheen references, this gets a pass because it's sick, but if I hear one more... Download: GLC - Charlie Sheen feat. Valentine & Kids These Days (Produced by Blended Babies) [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Also to all my Chicago folk, this Saturday, May 28th, there's going to be [...]

You might love Kanye West. You might hate him. But whatever side of the fence you sit on, it's hard to argue against the fact that the man can create some exceptionally dope beats when he puts his mind to it. The 'Ye naysayers might cite the fact that he's arrognat as hell (hard to argue with that); they probably hate his dress sense (ditto - but I'm not much of a style man). But Kanye To The surely knows how to make a good hip hop record. Case in point? 'Everybod Told Me', [...]

Here’s some unreleased Common produced by Kanye West that recently surfaced. The song has a lot of reggae undertones and the sample sounds inspired by Bob Marley’s “ So Much Things To Say .” It’s common sense that Yeezy and Com make a great team…can’t wait for them to get back together in the studio. Download: Common – “Follow Me” (prod Kanye West) Previously: Jennifer Hudson, Common & Lupe Fiasco [...]

Fear of God is Pusha T aging gracefully. Can't do the ice-cold Neptunes thing forever, but also can't move into John Legend LET'S UNITE THE WORLD schmaltz ever. Instead, he's got to find a middle ... read more

The Bible preaches that man should fear God in everything they do. Not to say that G.O.O.D. Music's hottest ticket, Pusha T thinks he's the creator of all things, but he definitely wants to instill that same type of omnipresence into his peers in this thing called rap. Sans the subliminal sacrilegious anecdotes, it's a kind of advantage every artist should strive for in their approach and angles. Combined with a ferocious punchline repertoire and trumped up guest-list (Kanye, Ross, Pharrell and 50 Cent, etc.) Fear Of God is aiming to be Pusha's [...]

Unlike most, I didn't see this latest video from Kanye West featuring Rihanna's titties. Don't get me wrong I love this song, but seriously, what the hell is this video? Hype Williams, the director, straight bamboozled Kanye and somehow convinced him that this was dope. Don't even get me started on how this video completely [...]
