What do Beyonce , One Direction, Kanye West, Ke$ha, Jay-Z, Bruno Mars, Usher, Tim McGraw, Pearl Jam, No Doubt and Gotye have in common? They're all richer than you! Also, they're all part of the new Global Citizen Tickets Initiative, a new project designed to incite social activism by offering people free concert tickets. Billboard reports that the campaign, created by the Global Poverty Project, allows ordinary people (just like you and me!) to take a "variety of social actions... to earn points they can use to win free tickets [...]

After sorting through the best songs and albums of 2012 (and figuring out who to watch in 2013), take an extended trip down memory lane and enjoy a recap of 2012 in pictures.
Did You Hear? :: Gotye 's smash hit "Somebody That I Used To Know" was the most-streamed song of 2012 based on Spotify's global numbers. He beat out Carly Rae Jepsen 's "Call Me Maybe," with fun. 's "We Are Young" in third. As for album streams, David Guetta 's Nothing But The Beat came out on top, followed by Gotye's Making Mirrors and Drake [...]
The BBC just released a pretty crazy little piece of information that outlines the most shared, or downloaded, artist in 20 of the world's countries. It turns out that we love bootlegging Drake albums here in the States while four countries can't get enough of some dude named Billy Van . Apparently he's a big house/electro artist? Anyway, you can peep the entire list of artists below and head over to the BBC to entire your zip code ... if you live in the U.K. Click the image below [...]

By now you may have heard that the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards are taking place tomorrow night (Sep. 6) live from Los Angeles at 8 p.m. ET. We know what you're thinking: no way this year can live up to last year. The 2011 VMAs featured Lady Gaga 's gender-bending theatrics, Beyonce 's baby bump reveal, an interpretive dance tribute to Britney and oh yeah maybe you've heard of that singer Adele ? [...]

It was a busy week on the pop scene, and yet some of the biggest stories had nothing to do with music. Kanye West made his love for Kim Kardashian official with some PDA (and some KW-style jewelery ), while Katy Perry celebrated a second week of Coachella with her new boyfriend . And let's not forget People falling head over heels for Beyonce , who they named the most [...]

This week saw the departure of a legend from Indy with a heartfelt press conference from an erratic boss in Jim Irsay and quarterback legend, Peyton Manning. The race to pick up the legend has me hoping he still has fuel in the tank for at least three to four years, and that's being overly optimistic. Of the three teams in the running for the legend's services, my beloved Donkey's are pushing hard for the free agent offering anything and everything. Shall this come to fruition, Tebow's departure is all but imminent, rendering the lefty's services [...]

XXX Treats Timothy Tassone aka TimmyTass from Orlando, Florida has been whipping up mashups for only a year! Whaaa?? I think Drake should call him up to do his next hook becuase what Tass did with his Over, is ten times better than the original. And who would have though B.o.B's Beast Mode + Excion's Deviance would be a perfect combination?! If you can't get enough of TimmyTass, check him out on his Facebook or Soundcloud . [...]

We all know I hate Best of Lists that come out before the year is over so nearly 4 weeks into 2012 I finally present my best albums of 2011! (Still a day faster than last year !) Below are the top 10 albums from my 2011 followed by 10 honorable mentions. The list was compiled by weighing total play counts along with longevity. Not only did I listen to it a lot, but was I still reaching for it months after the honeymoon phase. These are those albums. Since I can't be bothered to rank these [...]

Tonight marks the first ever WINTER concert at Red Rocks. With that in mind, why wouldn't it snow. Last night Atmosphere opened up for Brother Ali at the Ogden and tonight he will be headlining the Icelantic Winter with Common and despite the fierce elements, the show is SOLD OUT! Bundle up and wear your snow boots, because the ramps are a tad slick. Tonight's event may have sent a precedent for future winter shows at Red Rocks and if you put on the show, people will come. Two Door Cinema Club // [...]
It's that time of year again. No, not the holiday spirit, but the blogosphere spirit where everyone turns in their top albums of the year list. We've never been one to make lists. Hell, we're not really too deep into the whole "album" spirit. With that in mind, we've created a list of some of our top singles of this year. There are obviously plenty others that we love, but most of them are here because we posted about them on the site. Of course we love the Adeles, Florence and The Machines, and Radioheads of the 2011 music year. [...]
![Brandon’s TBE Digest 31 – [12.11.2011] New Jams, Remixes, & Covers!](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3922870_lg.jpg)
Artwork by Jacob Youngblood Ziegler Brandon's TBE Digest is a place where I gather up all the recent jams that are worth a listen (or 10) but don't necessarily need their own post. Here you will find new tracks by known bands, remixes, covers, and even mashups if they are interesting. My favorites of the lot are in bold . This may be the last Digest I do like this. I'd really like to take the time to give the best of these tracks the solo post they deserve. If [...]
'Making Mirrors' is the third studio album by Melbourne act Gotye, released in August. Gotye (pronounced gore-ti-yeah) is really one-man wonder Wally De Backer, armed with a sampler and the kind of home studio set up any musician would kill for. When he’s not drumming for indie rock trio The Basics, De Backer builds catchy songs [...]
![[BATTLE] M83′s “Midnight City” mashed up with both Kanye West & Gotye?!](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3779952_lg.jpg)
TBE Battle is a new series on The Burning Ear where I will occasionally put up two tracks that make for interesting comparison, debate, or whatever. Let the battle begin in the comments below! There is also a contest running to design the TBE Battle logo that will be used in each post. See below! ♫ The White Panda - Midnight Life (M83 & Kanye West) ♫ M83 & Gotye - Somebody At Midnight (Nimrodbz mashup) So besides being two of the best songs of the year, M832s [...]

Compiling our favorite posts from July ended up being more than a daunting task. Since the thought process became a big enough head ache, we seriously considered throwing nearly every song and artist covered for thirty days into a two part mix series. It almost happened, but since we strive to only curate the best listening experience, we narrowed it down to 16 amazing songs for you to carry with you through the weekend. With that said, know that Quit Mumbling is really into this one. Enjoy. Download the full mixtape complete the album art by [...]

Here it is, for better or worse, for agreement or not, my list of the top 25 jams that rocked and/or rolled my ass during the second half of 2010. This is the 4th such list in TBE history and by far the most quality collection. There were so many tracks that didn't make the cut, and so many more that I think should be ranked higher. Can't put 'em all in the top 10, now can I? Anyway, like all my lists, the ranking is loose. The quality, however, is tight as a drum... a tom-tom drum, perhaps... [...]
