Did You Hear? :: In an interview with CBC Q, drug-free DJ deadmau5 admits he "sold out" with his first and only dubstep track. He even went on to talk about his infamous feud with Madonna , saying that the funky grandma 's messages regarding drug use "just really upset me". He also adds that though Madge's fan base went rabid on him, they're nothing compared to Britney Spears ' followers: "Britney's fans put up a [...]

1. "New God Flow" - Kanye West & Pusha T. Kanye performed his then-unheard verse live at the BET Awards, and the full song dropped the next day. This song is absolute damage, with some of the best production we've heard this year. It was produced by unknown producers Tapez & Boogz, but they absolutely kill it with this beat. Pusha T is in contention, if not in the lead, for the artist of the year, and he continues his tear with two sick verses here. Kanye ends it with a verse of his own. Kanye West & [...]

August 7 will be the cruelest day of this already draconian summer. Kanye West and his G.O.O.D. Music assembly guarantee that. However, once the Internet has combusted like firecrackers dissecting [...]

"You are the music while the music lasts." -T.S. Eliot Antony - "Landslide" It doesn't seem like much time passes between each excellent new sample of Just Tell Me That You Want Me , a stellar collection of indie musicians covering Fleetwood Mac. One of the best is Antony Hegarty's take on karaoke staple "Landslide", the idiosyncratic singer's rich, operatic voice ringing out over simple acoustic guitar accompaniment. The track (originally released in 1975) sounds as fresh and haunting as ever, Hegarty's lilt on the last verse somehow [...]

Summer Jam, the annual stadium concert thrown by New York rap-radio giant Hot 97, has been a tradition around the city since 1994, when its lineup included Arrested Development, SWV, and Black Moon. In the nearly 20 years since, the event has grown into a rap-scene circus that serves as an in-that-instant Polaroid of everything happening in the rap music overground at that particular moment. Summer Jam sets are the moments where artists, if they're so inclined, make statements: Introducing high-profile guests, say, or launching campaigns against other artists. In 2006, I watched Busta Rhymes use the Summer Jam stage [...]

Last week, we skipped this list so that we could run our list of the 25 best videos of the year thus far . Those videos rule. And here are this week's picks. Read More...

"A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men." -Willy Wonka Andrew Bird – “Eyeoneye” This felt version of Andrew Bird has a hell of a lot going on inside of him. Not only are there tiny little men working on machines in his chest, but also vibrant stars and planets swirling around inside his head. Chromatics – “These Streets Will Never Look the Same” I dare you not to immediately put on Drive after checking out this latest video from [...]

Funky DL's Remix Deluxe - [Various Artists] by Funky DL

It's 12:14a.m. on a random Wednesday morning and I can't sleep, so I'm going to do what any normal insomnia prone person would do... ponder the end of the world. We all know that our time is limited on this planet. If my calculations are correct, we have a little over seven months left before the planet earth implodes into a black hole and we all disintegrate into the universe. That's why I've been running all my credit cards up and not paying any bills for the last three months. Yep... I have it all figured out. Pimp the system [...]

Happy Passover Apologies for the lack of content due to a variety of reasons. Good news for you is that I have still been acquiring jawnz while you have been waiting. Drake dropped this video alongside the visuals for Take Care a couple days ago. Even though Take Care will get more play thanks to the romantic tension, the concept behind this wins over everything. Shalom. Also, apparently G.O.O.D. Fridays restarted when no one was paying attention. Swizz Beatz feat. A$AP Rocky - Street Knock [...]
When we previously heard from otherworldly producer RAJA, he was in the midst of a heavy output cycle that featured one hell of a free project in Red . And because he's obviously so giving, the talented young beatsmith has given away another gem in Remixes . The fittingly titled project features - yeah, you guessed it - a slew of remixes. RAJA has taken on cuts like Nas' "You Know My Style" and Kanye West's "We Major", both of which are turned into screwed, ice-cold bangers. Stream and download the project below. [...]
