Kelly Jackson reminds me so much of a less aggressive Cinder Block, and I love it. The feisty singer for Brooklyn's post-punk indie quartet seems equally as neurotic in her performance for 'Impulsive' as Tilt did on "Viewers Like You" and "Til It Kills", but, instead of shouting angrily and unapologetically, Kelly seems to have harnessed that energy and angst. She channels it into mature pop songs. It's almost as if Tilt started all over again, 13 years later as adults - maybe with Karen O consulting? Regardless, I can't thank Ferns enough for conjuring up the old memories I [...]

Photography by Nate Cover The Sweetlife Festival 's 2013 lineup may have been the most fitting lineup for this summer, with some of our favorite up-and-comers along with the people responsible for some of this and last year's biggest releases. The only thing fishy about the lineup is the Yeah Yeah Yeahs somewhat low placement, unexpectedly underneath Kendrick Lamar and Passion Pit . Regardless of their somewhat low-placement, these Brooklynites had one of the largest and most enthusiastic [...]
Every aspect of this weekend's Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama promises to deliver. Now in its fourth year, the fest boasts an impressive lineup featuring legends Tom Petty and Stevie Wonder headlining alongside Kings of Leon. With all-you-could-ask-for amenities, including pools at the main stage and hammocks lining rows of palm trees, coupled with forecasts calling for sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s, it's slated to be a perfect weekend. Though general admission 3-day passes are now sold out , a few single day tickets remain . Also, if you can't [...]
I had the pleasure of watching the Yeah Yeah Yeahs play Manchester Apollo last week. It was my first time seeing them live (I know - very slack of me) and it was just as entertaining and enjoyable as I thought it'd be. That Karen O certainly knows how to put on a show - exploding glitter, jacket changes, strange eye-wear, glorious posturing - she had it all - and she ended the gig by shoving the microphone down her panties and staring into the crowd [...]
It'd been nigh on twelve long months since I'd last found myself clambering up the vertiginous inclines of Alexandra Park toward Ally Pally – a timescale no sooner contemplated than it'd been calculated, for each extreme was bookended by something utterly scintillating. Each was an I'll Be Your Mirror . This time taking place toward the beginning of an altogether merrier May, Karen O and her resurgent Yeah Yeah Yeahs plastered Saturday in a fluoro hue of glee, cherry-picking the likes of Dirty Beaches & The Field & Anika from a group filed [...]

Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Nick Cave Live at Stubbs - SXSW 2013 Yeah Yeah Yeahs headlined NPR’s SXSW Showcase on March 13th alongside Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds , one of the most highly-coveted tickets of the festival. Nick Cave played new songs from his recently released album Push the Sky Away , while Yeah Yeah Yeahs debuted a number of songs from their brand new album Mosquito . Yeah Yeah Yeahs Set List: Mosquito / Cold Light / Under [...]

Somehow, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have become the most consistent band to spring from that early '00s New York scene. The Strokes sputtered their way into mediocrity, while Interpol could never break away from the shadow of their impressive debut. Meanwhile, the group who seemed the likeliest to combust not only survived, but continued to thrive, churning out three excellent records that each had an individual identity. In a live setting, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs played to their strengths: Karen [...]

Mosquito seems like a step back to the basis in what has been a lengthy musical journey for YEAH YEAH YEAHS. To be exact, it has been ten years since their debut record Fever to Tell. The three-piece from NYC have been on the verge of true commercial success for quite some time now. Don't The post Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Mosquito appeared first on Nothing But Hope And Passion - NBHAP - Music Magazine & more .
Returning for a third outing, if this year streamlined to but the one solitary day next month is to witness the return of All Tomorrow's Parties' tangential I'll Be Your Mirror festival to Alexandra Palace for an afternoon-cum-early evening-cum-black night shebang which looks set to be explosive, and so too expansive as any other. For where previous editions have focussed on altogether gloomier aesthetics ( Portishead called upon anyone and everyone from DOOM and Company Flow to Swans and GY!BE, whilst last year featured the likes of the Melvins, Slayer, Codeine and so on) this [...]

Ten years after their debut Fever to Tell , the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are back with the highly anticipated Mosquito , out tomorrow on Interscope Records. Mosquito , much like its 2010 predecessor It's Blitz! , can be quite the mood swing. Songs like "Subway" and "Wedding Song" leave you hanging on to Karen O's soft, crooning vocals while "Sacrilege" and "Buried Alive [ft. Dr Octagon]" make it hard not to move to. Other than that, however, Mosquito is entirely it's own creature entirely. While some will surely [...]

Yeah Yeah Yeahs are set to release their fourth album, Mosquito, April 16th, 2013! “We would love for this music to make our fans feeeeel something, for it to stir some shit up inside of them, whatever that may be,” says singer Karen O. “SO much feeling went into this record, it was the rope ladder thrown down into the ditch for us to climb up and dust ourselves off. I hope others can climb up it too; we’re excited to share the good vibes.” Mosquito is produced [...]

Besides some great here and now experiences with bands like Metric, Of Monsters and Men, Passion Pit, Local Natives, and Yeah Yeah Yeah's in Day 1 of the biggest West Coast Festival in the nation, the proceedings last night in the desert of Southern California's Indio oasis included a preview (tralier) from the upcoming Daft Punk LP 'Random Access Memories'. Check out some of the videos captured below of the Day 1 Coachella performances   ;
It's a widely renowned reality that Deerhunter , or rather the Deerhunter that fabricated the seminal likes of Microcastle and Halcyon Digest , is a far cry from the beast Bradford Cox had initially intended to bring into the world. He was looking for an outlet; an opportunity to unleash his more confrontational, and with that unhinged compositional work on the discerning, chin-stroking audience in which the band have incidentally kindled an unending infatuation regardless. And as he here puts on his best Karen O impression to set about shrieking "Mono-Monomania" on this, the title track [...]
It was some time back about the turn of the year that heads rolled and ears turned to a couple new Yeah Yeah Yeahs bootlegs shoddily recorded over in Pomona and shoved online posthaste, one of which was presupposed to be called Earth. Well, Earth just so happens to actually be Under the Earth, and indeed on record just so happens to be approximately as many times better than its ripped predecessor as there are metres separating the human race from the globe's very core. Brian Chase's rhythms that bit more slinky and Nick Zinner's grizzly bass [...]

Check out the video for the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s new single Sacrilege. This is the first single from the group’s new album “Mosquito” coming April 16th. The video takes you on a girl’s journey with some classic Tarantino style backwards storytelling. Directed by Megaforce. Enjoy. Click here to view the embedded video.

Watch Yeah Yeah Yeahs Music Video for ‘Sacrilege’ Earlier this week the music video for Sacrileg e was released by Yeah Yeah Yeahs , the lead single from their April 16th album Mosquito . The Megaforce-directed video stars UK supermodel Lily Cole. I was lucky enough to catch Yeah Yeah Yeahs in Austin during SXSW along with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (pictures and video post coming soon).
