Day 3 of our 4-day countdown of the best of the year. Part 1 (80-61) can be found here . Part 2 (60-41) can be found here . To recap: AlbatRoss and I had 2 guidelines we stuck to in compiling this list: 1) it had to be rap (meaning no R&B - Frank Ocean and Miguel had killer years but they won't be found on this list) and 2) one song per project on the list. We did this (including honorable mentions, of course) to make sure we brought a good variety from the list and not to [...]

I don't actually know what he contributes to each track, but DJ Khaled certainly knows what he's doing with these albums he puts out. His newest release, Kiss the Ring , features just about every relevant rapper, singer, entertainer on the planet and with that comes some hits. It's a numbers game, really. Check out a pair of my favorites with Ace Hood, J. Cole, Big K.R.I.T and Kendrick Lamar below and the rest of the release on iTunes , etc. Ace Hood - Piss 'Em Off (lo-fi) ( [...]

DJ Khaled - Kiss The Ring Def Jam: 2012 DJ Khaled's latest effort Kiss The Ring is a victory lap. His last two albums proclaimed his triumph; after albums titled Victory and We The Best Forever , there's nothing left to do other than gloat. Hell, the last track is just Khaled ordering a nice meal poolside with Ace Hood. He moves away from the hyper-energetic Lex Luger beats that peppered his last album, toward more decadent beats by Hit-Boy and J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. This isn't a man leading an army anymore, this is [...]
Kanye’s Crew… Apparently went off in one of the trippiest flights of all time. Definitely one of the stronger flash mobs we’ve seen around these parts. Hopefully you all enjoyed the recap because we’re just about to start heading into some newer releases as the school year approaches. Stay tuned. Produced by J. Cole, here's a (tagless) version of one of the most highly anticipated songs off of DJ Khaled 's new mixtape Kiss The Ring dropping August 21st. Features from Cole , " Kenderick" Lamar , and Big K.R.I.T. make this song worth while. Download: DJ Khaled - "They Ready" ft. J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, & Big K.R.I.T.

While the last DJ Khaled song focused on hip-hop's past and the careers of two of its most celebrated artists, this one's premise is set squarely on the future. The aptly named "They Ready" features arguably the three best up and coming names in hip-hop: J. Cole , Big K.R.I.T. , and Kendrick Lamar . The song is produced by J. Cole himself and features all three of the young emcees stepping up to the mic and delivering their bars in double time, producing enough energy to power at least two small villages [...]

When all is said and done, we probably won't ever really know what the hell DJ Khaled does, but his continued Gold medalist reign as the top hip hop posse cut rounder-upper isn't likely to be taken over soon, especially if he keeps dropping enticing line-ups like the one featured on latest Kiss The Ring leakage "They Ready". The lackluster, flow-killing main hook begs to be either re-written or omitted out completely, but the rapid-fire shit-talking and double-duty-pulling producer J. Cole 's dizzying whirl of hand claps [...]
Brand new track by DJ Khaled featuring J. Cole, BIG KRIT, and Kendrick Lamar. J. Cole on the production.

I have to say I was really really anticipating this track and hoping it wasnt a bust. Prayers have been answered! Khaled, I wont kiss your ring as the album titled states, but I will give you a thumbs up for this one. Listen: DJ Khaled feat. J. Cole, Big K.R.I.T. & Kendrick Lamar - "They Ready"

DJ Khaled dropped three not one, not two (crazy Khaled), but THREE new tracks from his upcoming Kiss The Ring LP on Funkmaster Flex's show tonight. The J. Cole-produced Kendrick and K.R.I.T.-featuring "They Ready" is the easy standout of the trio. Get a sample below. p.s. Khaled you misspelled K.Dot's first name on the single artwork. K-E-N-D-R-I-C-K. Remember when J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar were supposed to be recording a whole album together? Well, that never happened and is going to be filed next to K.R.I.T. and [...] The post DJ Khaled Feat. J. Cole, Big K.R.I.T. And Kendrick Lamar - "They Ready" appeared first on The Smoking Section .

Of all the tracks on DJ Khaled's new album, there were two that stood out. We already heard one of them in the Nas and Scarface-featured " Hip Hop ". And now we're getting the other, "They Ready", which boasts rhymes from J. Cole , Big K.R.I.T. , and Kendrick Lamar . Anyone doubting any of these dudes needs to think twice: they all body the beat, which Cole just so happened to produce. Yeah, this fucking goes. [ via ]

DJ Khaled just dropped a dope hip hop single featuring some of my current favorite rappers J. Cole , Big K.R.I.T. and Kendrick Lamar . 2 weeks worth of bang bang bang. 1. "Hip Hop" - DJ Khaled feat. Nas, Scarface & DJ Premier. DJ Khaled has a new album, Kiss The Ring , coming out on August 21st, and this was no doubt the most anticipated track for old school hip-hop lovers. DJ Khaled of course does nothing, but if he's bringing Nas, Scarface and Preemo together on a track we can't complain. The track stacks up, with 2 sick verses, a nice beat from J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, and some dope cutting from Preem in the second half of the song. [...]

1. "Theraflu" - Kanye West feat. DJ Khaled & DJ Pharris. New music from Kanye, the first we've heard since Watch The Throne . A bit out of nowhere, but good to hear from Mr. West. Not really sure what DJs Khaled and Pharris are doing in this song, especially since the track was produced by Hit-Boy, but... you know... whatever. All in all a pretty forgettable song but because it's Kanye it's buzzworthy. Kanye West feat. DJ Khaled & DJ Pharris - Theraflu 2. "Shot Caller (Remix) (Prod. Harry Fraud)" - French Montana feat. Hip-hop comes with a lot of guest verses, and 2011 was no exception to the rule. Sometimes featuring extra rappers improves a track by building on the artist's energy and offering different perspectives. Other times, it hurts a good song and brings it back to earth. In this case, we are only looking at successes. Below are the top 10 guest verses of 2011. 10 Drake on DJ Khaled’s “I’m On One” “I’m gettin [...]
