Kendrick Lamar stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night to promote the upcoming album release of Good Kid, m.A.A.d. City .  Although he did not surprise the crowd with a performance of his latest track Compton featuring Dr. Dre , which hit the web two days ago, Kendrick had another surprise in mind for the Late Night audience. Last night, Kendrick Lamar hit  "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon"  in support of his upcoming album  good kid, m.A.A.d. city   (out October 2). Here's the new video for Kendrick Lamar's stellar new single, "Swimming Pools" (Drank), which will appear on his major label debut— good kid, m.A.A.d. city . And while I think this song is phenomenal, I wish I could say the same about the visual. The whole "Slow motion fall into a pool of despair (In this case, liquor)" for the duration of the video idea was a bad one and damn near put me to sleep, which is unfortunate. Hopefully they'll come up with a better video treatment for the next single. good kid, m.A.A.D. city [...]

I've been a little concerned that Kendrick Lamar has fallen under Dr Dre's spell recently. You know the one: where highly anticipated albums fall off the face of the earth, never to be heard from again. In the midst of a relatively slow music day, the good kid in a m.A.A.D city drops a new joint on us. Like some of his previous work, Kendrick uses some funky voice manipulation to give us a taste of that Houston style while preserving the flow that makes him so unique. On the surface it seems like a drinker's anthem, but it's quite the cautionary tale. A clever move, slipping that message into a more pop-oriented beat (watch the hi-hat) produced by T-Minus.
