Last month Cougar Microbes took over Tom Robinson's Now Playing @6Music program selecting some of our favorite tracks. By popular demand here is a full audio version of the show as well as the live tweets that accompanied it. Long time Cougar favourite Kick Up The Fire delivered on their early promise by bringing out their bombastic Self Titled mini-album. Back in October I remarked that the band sounded 'like Franz Ferdinand after a large hit of performance enhancing drugs.....offering more hooks than a regional angling club'. It is indicative that a few months on [...]
South East London mischief-makers Kick Up The Fire release their self-titled debut mini album on November 15th on You And Whose Army?Records. Aditionally they have unveiled a video for 'No Fun In London' directed and edited by talented NYC based movie maker Alice Millar. The band needed some additional live shots so I stepped in [...]
I've been following Kick Up The Fire ever since I heard the South London outfits early demos (and subsequently photographed them on a few occasions) so it was with some pride that I unwrapped the bands self titled mini album. The boys have been perfecting these songs on the live stage for the past year [...]

Here we go, a mixtape of some of my favourite artists and songs of 2010 so far. Posting has been rather sporadic on here as per usual, but I think we have more than made up for that with this (and the other two that are in the works). We've got summery indie pop all the way through to some thundering and swaggering rock and roll - but I can't try and take all the credit for finding these - at least a couple were spotted by the fine folks over at The 405 - so hat tip [...]

We grew up ...in Brighton and Italy. Sanch and I met when we were snotty nosed teenagers wearing baggy jeans and pining over Cameron Diaz in The Mask. Alan and Thom are Brighton boys. It all started when ...Sanch and I had been jamming for a few months playing around with ideas and I went on holiday to New York. I met all these awesome people who were really creative, positive and proactive about everything they were doing. As soon as I got back to London we had a chat and decided to invite Thom down [...]
Last Saturday night Cougar Microbes was out in force spinning tunes once more at what is quickly becoming a home from home 'South Of The Border' in Old Street. To top the night off perfectly Cougar faves Kick Up The Fire played a blistering set closing with a particularly raucous offering of 'These Canvas Shoes'. Keep [...]
South East London's finest angular riff peddlers, Kick Up The Fire, have recorded a bunch of hot demos for a prospective new release. Cougar Microbes got its filthy mittens on the tracks and I can safely say they are guaranteed to get your booty shaking. Check out the bands Facebook page for more tracks and live dates. TRACK: Kick [...]
A couple of days ago I featured a vitriol filled and slightly humerous open letter written by Alan of Kick Up The Fire to Lily Allen. Taking the band slightly by suprise the original post received thousands of hits and several comments over the past few days with some criticising the joke nature of the [...]
My friend Alan, from the band Kick Up The Fire, has written a vitriolic post on the band's blog based on Lily Allen's stand on filesharing. I think its probably a little harsh and a bordering on the overly personal (I actually quite like her personality and some of her tracks). I do, however, agree that of all the [...]
Following in the footsteps of The Libertines, Klaxons and the almighty Blur here come South East London's latest exciting protégées, Kick Up The Fire. The Deptford quartet has not looked back since adding new guitarist Alan and changing name from Raid on the Arcade early this year. This Friday (3rd of April) sees them showcase their [...]
