Favorite Music Videos of 2012 (Alex) There was no way I was going to be able to watch all the music videos released this year. I liked so many different videos for so many different reasons it seemed silly to try and rank them. That's why I have presented my first year-end list (several more to come) alphabetically. The reasons I liked music videos this year was for a wide variety of reasons, ranging from the ones that might not have made the list [...]

“A lot of people try to peg me as a political rapper and I’m not. I’m a social commentator and at times people have politicized the things I say, but I don’t care too much for any political party. I care about people. Under Reagan, drugs were allowed to flood our community and wipe out two to three generations of people that could have kept my community growing and I take exception to that. I threw a BBQ when Reagan died. It’s not a vehement hate though, I’m not gonna spit on his grave. I wanted to break down what [...]
Killer Mike unleashes the well animated, politically charged visual for " Reagan " off his R.A.P. Music album Perfect timing in the midst of the US Presidential debates eh? Get out and vote, I guess? Video: Killer Mike - "Reagan" |

Killer Mike "Reagan" Politics, conspiracy and dope flow (sorry, I'll refrain from ever using that phrase again) fuse together in this entertaining animated music video. "Reagan" was directed by Daniel Garcia & Harry Teitelman and is off Killer Mike's El-P produced album R.A.P. Music . -Alex Reagan by KillerMikeGTO [...]
When I was in 3rd grade, way back in the fall of 1984, my class held a mock presidential election. Just like the eventual outcome of the real election, Reagan won in a landslide. Apparently we all made a huge mistake. I am really sorry ok but we were just children, I was also probably wearing a pair of parachute pants , so I was clearly not making the best life choices, a trend that continues to this very day.
Perfectly in time with tonight's presidential debate, Killer Mike drops a clip for "Reagan." The video is entirely animated—with flavors of Basquiat's drawing style at moments throughout—but despite its lack of real-life visuals, the war ... read more

Killer Mike' s recent obsession with high-art continues in the new animated clip for "Reagan", off his Top Star-earning LP R.A.P. Music . Here, the rapper's ultra-political lyrics are translated into sleek cartoons, lending a child-like sense of playfulness to otherwise unsavory scenes of police beatings, gang warfare, Reagan's backroom dealings with Iran, and the general commercialization and exploitation of black youth. The piece de resistance, though, is the ending scene, where Reagan's Star Wars initiative is taken to its most literal conclusion and the carnage takes on a sci-fi-lean with [...]
I haven’t really written about Atlanta rapper Killer Mike’s amazing album R.A.P. Music that was released back in May for Thought on Tracks, but that’s not because it isn’t one of the best albums of the year. The album’s bombastic production from El-P fits like a puzzle piece with Mike’s booming delivery, giving R.A.P. Music a sound as heavy as its message. Mike has already released a short film for “Big Beast” , which features verses from Bun B and T.I. as well as a crew of zombie strippers [...]

Killer MIke illustrates "Untitled," the personal mission statement from his recent, Southern history-revising album R.A.P. Music, with a series of living portraits, drawn from various eras but all rendered in a uniformly dim, baroque style. ... read more

In the music video for "Untitled", Killer Mike and guest star Scar recreate a series of historical art tableaus. The reworked pieces cast Mike as a saintly deity, a Saddam Hussein-inspired dictator with matching sword, an imprisoned civil rights leader and, finally, a severed head (with his old pal El-P their to hold it up on a golden platter). Save yourself a trip to the museum and watch the video below (via Pitchfork TV ). Mike's latest album, R.A.P. Music , is out now via Williams [...]
