M-Phazes (I like to think the M stands for "Midas"). His lazy beats and rich jazz tinged productions have brought a healthy dose of sonic gold to tracks by the likes of Pharoahe Monch, Urthboy, Talib Kweli and many more. Have an ear lick of his rework of James Blake's "I Never Learned To Share", re-dubbed "James Blake Never Learned To Make Drums Smack Like This". Also a previous favourite, his special edition remix of Kimbra's "Settle Down", so damn smooth. > M-PHAZES FACEBOOK > DOWNLOAD | James Blake -- I Never [...]

Instead of the usual funky Friday I want to share with you guys an artist that has saved me from all of the auto-tuned Ke$ha infested pop music that floods the radios. Enter Kimbra , a Kiwi with pipes of gold that could teach a lession in awesome to many of the main stream pop stars I can't escape from these days. Her debut album "Vows" comes out September 2nd, but luckily she has given out some sample tracks for anyone who is in need of a good sing-a-long or two. Grab my favorite of her works below: [...]

Cool remix by the New Yorker, Kimbra's "Settle Down" has been getting some deserved new life via swell remixes and edits, including this one by Penguin Prison, which I think is my favourite. DOWNLOAD | Kimbra - Settle Down (Penguin Prison remix) Posted by Celebrity Sex Tape.

A nice laidback edition by Cutloose from Brisbane. Check out the rest of his tracks on Soundcloud, there are some neat little party jams in there. Free download ftw. [ DOWNLOAD ]: Kimbra - Settle Down (Cutloose ReDRUM) Cutloose - [ FACEBOOK ]

Here's an interesting female solo artist, whom we believe should perhaps come with a few instructions. We suggest you kick back and design yourself an environment that suits the music - perhaps late at night, glass of red wine in hand, light up a smoke and let the tunes breathe through you. Actually any situation would suit music this timeless and sophisticated, plus we couldn't sincerely endorse any smoking. Originally from New Zealand, Kimbra Johnson now operates out of Melbourne, Australia. She's slightly more familiar to our antipodean cousins having first released a couple of singles, [...]
Pretty girls in dresses, dancing and smiling? Self; I truly thought you were stronger than that. But New Zealand’s Kimbra blends Indie, Jazz and Soul into a style even Prince and Janelle Monae would be proud of. So with such a fantastically catchy song behind the new video for “Cameo Lover”, I can’t be too [...]
Can I do a wordless post? Can I? Is that even allowed in the blogosphere? Cause I feel like they’d just take up the much needed space I could be using to show you her music. Words are wasted trying to peg Kimbra (Johnson) down to a musical style. Where some bands need a bit [...]

Happy Halloween everybody! Every year on this day evil spirits let down their hair and remind us that everything is going to be alright. Or something. If you want a "Halloween theme" playlist you've come to the wrong place! This is just a party mix. You want something like that check out stereogum. It's always good to see what comments people make there too cause there's always SOMEONE saying "oh but what about...?" Kind of like the time I dj'd and someone asked me to play Daryl Braithwaite's The Horses. Now THAT's scary! Let's kick off [...]

Check out Kimbra's amazingly passionate performance of "Plain Gold Ring" above. also check out " Settle Down " from the same performance We first heard the 20-yr old New Zealand born, now living in Melbourne Australia, artist Kimbra featured on Miami Horror's new track and video , "I Look To You" from their Illumination LP . She then wow'd and whoa'd us with her "Settle Down" single/video. Kimbra - Plain Gold Ring [...]
Will the next beat loving chanteuse please stand up? Why thank you Kimbra! More like it: You Gotta See This: Two Door Cinema Club YOU GOTTA SEE THIS: The Morning Benders YOU GOTTA SEE THIS: We Are Wolves

I have been lost lately and I do not know if I have even returned. I haven’t been here but I do not know if I have even been there. Confusing much? Probably, but what is certain is that I have been lost. My thoughts are jumbled and I do not think I have anything figured out but what I do know is that I am attempting to make my way back. To where? I have no idea but here is Penguin Prison , a man with more dualities than me, remixing Kimbra’s single “Settle Down.” The remix [...]
Kimbra, who you may recognize from her featuring on that rad Miami Horror single "I Look To You", is something of a musical chanteuse that we should've seen as more than just a flash in the pop pan. With hushed vocal chants and a pure pop existence, the Melbourne-based Kimbra has just released her first-ever [...]
