It's not all 'eighties influenced remix' this and 'dirty beats' that around here you know. We also find time for slow, lovely stuff as much as we do all the noisy stuff. When it comes to 'slow, lovely stuff', the Dark Dark Horse remix of Fossil Collective's 'Without A Fight' is pretty much perfect. The aching vocals of the folky original sit perfectly over the sparse electronic backing and a melancholic piano. It's quite, quite beautiful and more than a little moving. Kinda sad actually - and that's why we like it. [...]

The mane thing we want to say about Dark Dark Horse is that we love them. They are a band hoof managed to achieve a sound that usually only comes from Iceland or somewhere similarly glacial. Ahem. Terrible horse puns aside, we're suckers for downtempo electronic boy pop - we melt at the first hint of a melancholy man's voice over a dark, chilled out beat as easily as we do every time we hear Britney go 'whoah oh oh oh oh oh-oh, whoah oh oh oh oh oh oh-oh' on 'Till [...]

In 2009, a lady called Rachel Adedeji was voted off X Factor in the UK. In 2009, a lady called Rikke Lie was voted off X Factor in Norway. This isn't the greatest comparison in the world because it wasn't so long ago that Rachel Adedeji released a half-decent single (we were secretly hoping that the parallel here would be someone along the lines of Rikki Loney or Emily Nakanda but never mind). ANYWAY. The point here isn't to witter on about people we should have all long forgotten. The point here [...]
Tendo em conta que as primeiras músicas que ouvi em 2011 eram aquelas que eu estava a passar ontem no Café Suave e que estavam na transição do ano, "Call Me" (Blondie), "Drunk Girls" (LCD Soundsystem) e "Being Bad Feels Pretty Good" (Does It Offend You, yeah?), na realidade o ano musical para mim só começa efectivamente depois de ter tomado o pequeno-almoço e já bem acordado e quando me acerco da

Remember the best nights you ever had: your first kiss, the night you spent with your mate in his basement with a whole container of mulled cider. This, my friends, is the soundtrack to every night you've spent chilling. Dark Dark Horse is the side project of Maybeshewill's Jamie Ward and singer James Stafford from Kids in Cars. Honestly, this stuff is pretty intense. My friends and I are secret electronic indie pop fans, so when we get our hands on something this good, it doesn't go away for long. What separates this band from many others is [...]

Here's day two of our countdown - as always, we hope you guys enjoy! 20. Sunday [...]

Hi all! Its great having yet another opportunity to catch up with you. We've been keeping busy with music just as we have been with our lives. However, when it does come to music, it's ... Related posts: Indie Halloween Playlist 2008 Indie Halloween Playlist 2009 Villagers Reaching The Airwaves

For me Summer Sundae festival was a somewhat gruelling experience at times – the weather was very much against us until the final day and, exhaustion compounding illness, your correspondent briefly blacked out on the train home. After a couple of days to recover, though, it is the quality of the performances at this generally expertly-run medium-sized festival which stay in the mind. It's easy to see that Sundae deserves to have reached its proud tenth anniversary with this year's event; its trump card of being based in and around Leicester's DeMontfort Hall lends it a professionalism and [...]

Words: Saam Das July was a bit of a disappointing month for singles. Few, if any, amazing releases and some of the best ones were re-releases ( 'Stillness Is The Move' and 'Fire Escape' ), which I don't like talking about because it might suggest I endorse such blatant cash grabs. Maybe I'm being overly harsh. In other respects though, I'm being far too lenient giving Adam Lambert (of 'American Idol' fame) a [...]

I have been listening to a good deal of softer, quieter and more laid back electronic tunes over the last few months, which has meant this mixtape slowly building and evolving since last December. So some of these tracks are brand new, whilst others are some of my favourites from the end of 2009 - it has been my most played playlist though so I though it was about time I shared. The mixtape opens up with Television Keeps Us Apart , who are a Swedish band who just make some of the most beautifully layered and [...]

Kyte - Designed for Damage (Pacific! [...]
I've been noticing a trend in music this summer that makes me feel good about the future. More and more acts are getting away from the high flying trick filled production styles and opting for more understated, musical, mood based flavors. I personally enjoy both styles because there's a time and place for everything so the balance this movement creates only makes things better. Designed for Damage is the second single from Kite's Dead Waves , a very sensual and eclectic debut album that displays the bands strong command on song writing and production. Most [...]
Leicestershire based Indie-Electro act Kyte and currently looking to release their new single 'Designed For Damage' later this month. Taken from their album 'Dead Waves', the single comes with a reMix package that includes this gem from Pacific! , a smooth track that predominantly walks the line between Dreamwave and Nu-Disco but has little drops of Indie-Electro, here and there, throughout. Defiantly up there with some of the best of the laidback Indie tinged Disco that seems to be the sound of this summer. [...]

A tale of sorrow, really. She came from Alabama with a rose in her head. It's all history after that. Interesting tune from Modern Skirts , who just released the Happy 81 EP on Athens Music about a week ago. Modern Skirts - Rebecca St. Claire This gem emerged the other day. Seems like Kyte is releasing a forthcoming album July 26th, and to help spread the word they're tossing out this Pacific! remix that I have been turning over a lot in my library. [...]
Photography: Chris Grohusko Not the manliest track ever made, but it's got a vibe that I really like. I hope you do too Kyte - Designed for Damage (Pacific! Remix) Kyte | Pacific! | Buy

Kyte is a band from from Leicestershire, UK who apparently record all of their songs in a small bedroom. They have a single out on July 26th called 'Designed For Damage'. Kyte - Designed for Damage (Pacific Remix).mp3

Kyte is a band from from Leicestershire, UK who make music which is kind of a mixture of ElectroPop and Post Rock. They record all of their songs in a small bedroom.. apparently. They also get lost in the woods every now and then (see picture). They have a single out on July 26th called 'Designed For Damage' initially I was interested because Pacific! had done a remix, but the original is pretty good and worthy of your time too. Kyte - Designed for Damage And now for the Pacific! [...]
