![Best of 2012: Remixes [Top 12]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4692200_lg.jpg)
Last year was the first time that I did a "Best of" Remixes. So why not do it again this year. I am a sucker for songs being remixed and probably giving a bit of life to. You may agree or disagree on this list. Besides it might make you dance to it. So here it is my Top 12 Remixes of 2012. 1. Florence + The Machine - Spectrum (Say My Name) [Calvin Harris Remix] [...]

Lorne Michaels really hit the jackpot when he somehow conjured up Saturday Night Live . The live TV sketch comedy show has just completed its 37th season, parodying everything from politics, to popular culture, to the very musical acts that perform on stage at Studio 8H. The show has been the perfect arena for some classic musical performances on a stage only small if you're speaking in terms of physical size. While many acts that have performed on SNL have been technically precise and entertaining, there have been a few snafus that are just as [...]

It’s happening again this year! Record Store Day 2012!! This will be my third year trying to get whatever “limited edition” records around. Like previous years I made a list of what records I wanted to get and what I bought . I understand some of the release will be available only in the UK and USA. The Ottawa music stores that are participating are: Compact Music CD Warehouse Birdman Sound [...]

Mr. Littlejeans, aka Monica Birkenes, is best known for remaking Arcade Fire's single for "The Suburbs" that received countless airplay on Sirius XMU causing bloggers everywhere to lose their cool and proclaim Mr. Littlejeans as the next big indie star. Now it's been announced that Birkenes' debut album will arrive in August via Sony(!). Hmm...is Sony trying to pull a Lana Del Rey thing? Birkenes has released a new video for her single, "Runaway", that will be released on April 10th. Watch the video for "Runaway" below. Read more »

Indie Diva Editition I was going back through the archive of previous Hump Day Power Plays , and I realized that there's only one female vocalist showcased thus far. The shitstorm from last night's SNL performance by overnight blog/hype/interwebs sensation, Lana Del Rey, was heard/seen all over the Twitters last night. Who says money can't buy you fame/press coverage and a slot on the musical stage over at SNL after being on the scene for less than a year. Many other artists more worthy have never graced the Saturday Night stage that have been around much longer and to add insult to injury, LDR's proper album has yet to be released. Sigh. It's funny what happens when you get a little collagen injected and [...]
Lana Del Rey (AKA, Elizabeth Grant) makes her network TV debut on Saturday Night Live. I'm still not sure how I feel about "new sensation" Lana Del Rey. Posing as a self-made artist, the New York artist broke on the scene towards the end of 2011 with her David Lynchian YouTube video that appeared for the song "Video Games." Later, folks figured out she was formerly known as Elizabeth Grant, a run-of-the-mill pop singer with two failed albums. Sure, there's something to be said for reinvening [...]

COVER ME!
