Lost Lander’s spectacular debut DRRT is constructed from shards of electronic and organic sounds—a lush sonic collage of synths and vocals.

The worlds of nature and technology collide on Lost Lander's debut album, DRRT . The music video for Lost Lander's "Cold Feet" is composed of one night's worth of television viewing, shot from director Jonnie Ross's iPhone and then cut up into a pastiche of random scenes, some obscure and some archetypal within the collective consciousness of American popular culture. It's a concept that works as a powerful critique of compulsive 24-hour media consumption as movie images of car chases and explosions are juxtaposed against news footage of war,...

The latest twelve inch from the legendary, K7 Records, is no surprise. A superb sound portrayed by the mature and classy, and K7 regulars, Cobblestone Jazz. The critically acclaimed four piece from Germany via Canada put forward an interesting take on that UK influenced house sound coming through in abundance right now. Treat yourself to the twelve inch here . The digital here . And a superb mix from RBMA down there.

There's a whole lotta news these days about Portland's electro tinged indie pop band Lost Lander . For starters, the quartet, made up of original band founder/songwriter Matt Sheehy, Patrick Hughes, Dave Lowensohn and Sarah Fennell, will be releasing their debut album, DRRT on January 24th. Then, the band will be going on a series of West Coast tour dates with fellow Portland natives Radiation City . AND if that's not enough, the band just released the first video off of the album, "Cold Feet," which you can watch here: [...]
From Portland, here's Lost Lander with the song "Cold Feet." Everything shot with an iPhone and then edited for max effect. Very mesmerizing. Their album, DRRT , comes out in January.

Cold Feet - Lost Lander DRRT is a peculiar name for an album - that was my first thought when I heard of Lost Lander (@lostlanderband) and their upcoming debut LP. Silly title aside, this is an incredible band that has accomplished something extremely rare with their first release. Filled with one gorgeous track after another, the group sounds like well-seasoned veterans who have performed together for several years. Standout track, "Cold Feet", is particularly stunning with hard hitting drum beats and smooth, perfectly executed [...]
Click image to download track Sounds like: The Helio Sequence, Sigur Ros, Grizzly Bear "Lost Lander - Cold Feet" What's so good? So this guy, Matt Sheehy, moves from Alaska to Portland to pursue his musical endeavors and this is what he's birthed: Lost Lander. He's already got quite the roster of previous participation in successful bands such as Menomena, Gravity & Henry, the Menders, [...]
Forget Portugal. The Man for a minute and focus on this other guy from Alaska who moved to Portland to sing in a pop band. Production supplied by Brent Knopf, formerly of Menomena. MP3: Lost Lander - Cold Feet I can't really call this fully minimalist pop music, but it feels really spacious and beautiful. [...]

I thought Lost Lander 's "Cold Feet" sounded familiar. The song appeared on this year's PDX Pop Now! compilation. But there's more. Lost Lander is the new band of Matt Sheehy and Brent Knopf (Ramona Falls, Menomena). "Cold Feet" has the sound f Knopf's other band and his prior band, though a bit more restrained and calculated. Lots of vocal harmonies, precise percussion and intense instrumentation. The song is off the band's debut release, DRRT , out in January. That makes [...]
LOST LANDER, YOURS, WHAT HEARTS ( Rontoms , 600 E Burnside) Clad entirely in white (don't worry, Labor Day is a month away) the all-star ensemble of Lost Lander made more than a few PDX Pop Now! concert-goers weak in the knees. Catch the band tonight as they preview new material from their forthcoming debut, DRRT , and maybe pick up a few fashion tips as well. There's some debate over at Merc HQ around whether or not we should publicize Kickstarter projects. I personally think it's a great way for people to support artists they feel invested in-I'm less- to not- interested in business-oriented projects, or creators I'm not familiar with. That said, here are 3 reasons why I feel invested in Portland band Lost Lander's attempts to fund an album and tour: 1. Matt Sheehy's first solo record, Tigerphobia , is one of my favorite recordings by a local artist. 2. The new Lost Lander record is [...]
Lost Lander is completely foreign to me, and about 20 minutes ago I stumbled across "Cold Feet" and was blown away. Apparently they're a 3 piece band coming out of Oregon, and they've released this track as the first single off their upcoming album DRRT. Not much to say about them - just press play below and let the music speak for itself. Download: Lost Lander - Cold Feet [via]

As this track opens up, a steady tribal drum beat welcomes soft, ethereal background vocals complimented by lead singer, Matt Sheehy . The song is a culmination of synth, drums, bass, guitar, piano, and even some whistling. It's peaceful, intricately written, performed and produced. Sheehy has recently come together with Brent Knopf to work on a new project, Lost Lander . This Oregon 3-Piece has released this single, Cold Feet, as a teaser to their debut album, DRRT. With sounds that echo Band of Horses , and My Morning Jacket , we can only [...]

Cold Feet , the first release off of Lost Lander’s upcoming debut album DRRT is a riveting kick-off to a sultry summer soundtrack. Dense yet ethereal, intimate yet globe-trekking; this stirring and lushly textured piece of flawless songcraft is the brainchild of Portland Oregon’s Matt Sheehy (Ramona Falls) and deftly produced by Ramona Falls’ Brent Knopf (formerly of Menomena). Although there’s a moving sense of pathos pervading the overall atmosphere of the song, it’s reverentially counterbalanced by an ever-present anthemic yowl of hope and triumph. Fans of Peter Gabriel, Band of [...]

Photo by Robert Arn Album cover for Lost Lander's DRRT Yesterday we posted the new Lost Lander song, which appears on this year's PDX Pop Now! compilation album. The song is called "Cold Feet"-it's wonderful, so I'm re-posting it below-and it's the opening track from the Portland band's stunning forthcoming debut, DRRT , due out later this summer. Lost Lander is a new group, but it's the project of seasoned songwriter (and forester) Matt Sheehy , who plays in Ramona [...]

Tyler Stenson is the man behind Lander, and the back-to-back winner of the Portland Songwriters Association's "Songwriter of the Year" award. The PSA's annual competition draws dozens of local songsmiths, narrowed down to ten for the final round. Stenson won this year's competition (on Feb. 13) with the songs "Whistle Stop" and "Cellophane." Stenson says that "Babysitting the Cowboy" is his current favorite of his tunes. It's a wide-eyed look back at a Wyoming childhood (the songwriter hails from Lander, Wyoming) and a busted tractor that seemed to have magical properties. But by the end of the track, [...]
