Chan Marshall may well have (albeit belatedly) wound up in the UK last night though she wasn't stood out with the smokers of Euston Road, but instead busying herself with the serenading of Jools Holland's studio audience over at The Maidstone Studios, Kent where rather than revisiting anything from the abnormally rowdy Sun LP of yesteryear, she instead opted to air a slight obscurity entitled Bully. Ostensibly aimed right between Giovanni Ribisi's two peepers, the track plaintively harks back to Cat Power standout album The Greatest as Marshall mourns the demise of better times, crooning [...]
On his latest EP, Shlohmo takes his versatility to a new level with sounds from the recent rise in alternative R&B and trap. WATCH THE REVIEW

When your name (I presume, anyway) references a Nick Drake record, it's almost expected that your music will carry a sense of quiet affection and restraint along with it and thankfully that's exactly, and brilliantly, the case with Melbourne duo Brighter Later. Come And Go is their new single; the last to be released before their The Wolves LP is unleashed this coming March. Elegantly constructed and beautifully layered, Come And Go is a subtle ode to changing seasons and changing times. Stream it below; [...]

Los Angeles chillwave artist of the visual and audio mediums, Henry Laufer aka. SHLOHMO will be hitting our shores in 2013 to promote his forthcoming EP. SHLOHMO will be appearing on stages around the country at Laneway Festival, and Sydney and Melbourne will be treated to side shows. We can look forward to R&B influence surfacing on the Laid Out EP, released through Friends of Friends on March 5. 'Later' is the first taste, and it's stretched out emotive electro with a hook that is [...]

Producer Shlohmo will be releasing a new EP Laid Out , March 5th on Friends of Friends. The 1st leak “Later” uses a distant sample to dazzle us into an intoxicating and addictive state.
Undoubtedly one of the highlights of 2012 for me was getting to see Shlohmo and the Friends of Friends crew take over Boiler Room in a crowded warehouse in downtown Los Angeles. RL Grime had one of the best sets I heard all year, and while Shlohmo's was a bit choppy, partly due to the insanity of the crowd, the track selection was simply unparalleled. But after releasing several excellent remixes last year, Shlohmo is back to producing original cuts for 2013. Yesterday, he announced the release of a new EP with an accompanying audio/visual tour to [...]

Shlohmo is the master of stellar remixes and has been hailed as one of the best remixers of 2012 by pretty much every single blog out there, and rightfully so, but what people might forget in all the remix excitement is that he produces brilliant own material as well. His first album 'Bad Vibes' is among my most played electronic albums and luckily for the lovers of Shlohmo’s own material there is a new EP on the way of which the young producer has now shared a track called Later . Shlohmo’s ‘Laid [...]
Electronic music producer Shlohmo drops a track from his forthcoming EP, Laid Out . The song is titled "Later," and it's absolutely beautiful with its atmospheric bass synths and what seems to be a distorted vocal sample. Before I go on, let me say that I'm loving this friggin' sample. It's a great chunk of audio, and it's applied perfectly in this trap-style instrumental. The way the track progresses is fantastic, too, getting more and more intense with its jittery snares and hi-hats as the track moves along. Can't wait for this [...]

Shlohmo empieza el 2013 con el pie derecho, el próximo 5 de marzo lanzará su nuevo EP Laid Out del cual sale este fino track, "Later". Enjoy. ♩ Shlohmo - Later

I post about The Staves quite a bit (A. Lot.) so I'll make this quick. From afternoon acoustic sessions at a lovely little festival in Dorset over a year ago to supporting Bon Iver within the gargantuan confines of The O2 in Dublin, The Staves have picked up quite a head of steam in recent weeks. Sandwiched in between somewhere were the trivial little matters of a debut album release ( Dead & Born & Grown) [...]
Grizzly Bear performed a couple of tracks from their excellent Shields album on Later... With Jools Holland this week. Check out their performance of Yet Again below:
Grimes did herself a great service in the great buzzband of 2012 stakes with this performance. It could have very easily fallen flat on its arse (a la LDR) and made anyone who has been championing her feel like a complete tit to the larger outside world watching her for the first time but you can hold your head high today internet. Not even the all-seeing eye hippy shit can ruin this one. Alabama Shakes were pretty good too even though I get the feeling 'Hold On' is the only tune I'll [...]
I missed this last night on the Tee Vee. Björk and her choir perform 'Crystalline'. Worth it for the drum and bass freakout alone. As with recent Björk albums, I'm finding Biophilia difficult to love. I think I need another four or five listens at least....
Watch the videos for Florence + The Machine's 'No Light, No Light' and 'What The Water Gave Me' after the jump, along with the brilliant Cold Specks performing 'Old Stepstone' and 'Lay Me Down'.
"Connect Four is back in Spain, more precisely Valencia, where we found the up and coming artist; Paneoh. First time we really put our ears on him was when he released the great track React on Microfreak (a Valencia label run by Attemporal). We got in touch and he sent us some tracks of which [...]

Jools Holland had two rather contrasting performers on his live show last night. Let's play spot the difference. I'll start: one of the bands has confetti; one doesn't.
