After a two-year hiatus from touring nationally, Swedish-based electronic-indie rockers The Sounds hit up Austin for a show at La Zona Rosa on November 11 th . Formed in 1999, The Sounds have established a strong fanbase through their four well-received albums. Jam stalwarts moe. kicked off an active month of touring last night at La Zona Rosa in Austin for the first of three shows in Texas, where they'll be supported by Great American Taxi. In the middle of yesterday's first set GAT/Leftover Salmon's Vince Herman sat in on mandolin with the group for a cover of The Band's Up On Cripple Creek. by Jeff Barringer - Staff Photographer Prehistoric sludge metal band Mastodon filled up and sold out Austin's La Zona Rosa and then proceeded to trample the audience with heavy bass lines and wandering guitar rifts. Their current North American tour continues on through November, ending in Atlanta on December 2nd. The break will be short with the band back on the road January 11th, in Europe.
