The Southern Cal lads of Tan Sister Radio provide us with their new song called “Leap Year”. The West Coast laid-back charm is in full gear, giving off low-key arresting melodies and soothing riff after riff. The wonderful little jam session just bring things to a rather wonderful close. We think this would sound real good on a record player on a hazy Sunday Morning. Listen and download below.

So this year was a leap year, which meant we all got an extra day to enjoy. So the question asked myself is what I can do to cherish this leap year day (29th February) as they don’t come around very often. I decided what better way to spend this extra day and see the band that everyone is talking about; GOTYE. I found myself at London’s Shepard’s Bush Empire, a building I’ve passed many a time on the bus and never really paid much attention to. But this venue isn't called one of London’s best for no reason. With [...]

Graphic: JayB We didn't really have any special planned to celebrate Ja Rule's birthday. With this being a Leap Year, the little crooning prince of rap had his special day [...]

On this, the day of the year that is actually March 1st on three of every four occasions, we are bringing you a bonus day of tunes, so Happy Leap Year to all. Before I get to the goods, I'd also like to give a shout out to Ja Rule who turns nine years old today. Alright, jokes aside, Reptar is my main focus on this fine day. I personally have not had a ton of exposure to this band but after hearing their new single "Sebastian," I am quite eager to get my [...]

The weather is 43° and sunny but cool and windy. It's also one of those days, the sort you get stuck with every now and then and could do without if given a choice. Last night I woke up so many times I'm still tired. I remember a weird dream about a college in Oklahoma I was attending. I went there on a bus where I met another student, Louise, also going my way. My uncle came to visit, and I didn't recognize him which made sense because I don't have that specific uncle in real life. He walked up [...]
When Hoodie Allen dropped his Leap Year tape back over the Summer, "James Franco" happened to be one of the few cuts that didn't really appeal to me. Maybe it [...]

A musical tribute to James Franco. That's what the world has been missing. Hoodie Allen has filled that gaping hole in our lives with his hip-hop ode to the actor. Hoodie, whose real name is Steven Markowitz, is a New York rapper who recently quit his job at Google to devote all of his time to his music. He released his third mixtape, Leap Year , this year and "James Franco" is ready to tear up the internet. You won't be able to resist the "James Franco" chant. You can download the song, and the full mixtape, for free [...]
Check out Hoodie Allen’s newest video - this one is for “James Franco”. An army of bobble head sized James Franco’s taunts and does otherwise silly things in the vicinity of Hoodie. Give it a look. You can still head to Hoodie Allen’s website to download Leap Year for free .
Hoodie Allen has kindly sent us over his new video for “James Franco”. Fans were asked to vote for their favorite cut off of Leap year, to be made into a video, and this one out. Hoodie and crew, flew out to LA to shoot this, along with about 50 of Franco bigheads. I’ll say James, Y’all say Franco. Hoodie Allen - “James Franco”
I was at Raza's graduation dinner when an old friend of mine tapped me on the shoulder and told me I looked like the Pakistani version of James Franco . I kept my cool when he said it but you already know that the first thing I did when I got home was put that on my resumé . If you thought the audio for "James Franco" was random wait until you see the video. Watch till the end for a huge plot twist. [...]
Taken from Hoodie Allen 's latest free mixtape, Leap Year , "James Franco" is a love letter of sorts to that laissez-faire attitude of just hanging out, getting shit done and being able to adapt and do most anything, much like the title subject himself has somehow been able to accomplish. For the video, we get weirdo Franco-head overlays and Allen and company hanging out in and around the Venice Beach boardwalk, having fun, getting people to sing along and just generally having a good time. If you've been to a Hoodie Allen live show it's basically all [...]
Here's what Hoodie Allen told us when he dropped his latest video off in our inbox: So back in July when I released Leap Year (DOWNLOAD), I let the fans decide which videos they wanted to see off the project. Overwhelmingly, people wanted to see visuals for the song “James Franco”. We went all the way [...]

Hoodie Allen isn't like most rappers. In a lot of ways, he's more like you than he is 90% of Hip-Hop. For example, while many elite MCs speak on gangerisms and gwop galore, the charmingly goofy Allen opens up his sophomore mixtape/LP Leap Year with lines about eating Mexican food with his would-be wifey. " Kick it with that new girl, eating my Chipotle/Yeah we getting married, I don't care what them hoes say, " Hoodie rhymes on the chord-heavy "Song For An Actress." While cutesy and almost deterring, the reality is, the Long [...]
The New York-based rhymer Hoodie Allen is back with his third mixtape in the last three years. Released early last week, Leap Year features several impressive tracks including, "Dreams Up," which we posted back in January. Similar to last year's project, Pep Rally, Hoodie's latest work is again filled with excellent samples along with his up-beat style. Hoodie himself explains the project by saying: I began writing Leap Year when I decided to leave my job at Google and follow my passion. The thirteen track album is a look into my world and what it means to step out of my comfort [...]

After listening to the entirety of Hoodie Allen 's newest mixtape Leap Year , and witnessing the project's near-instantaneous success on-line following it's Web release this past Tuesday, it's hard to imagine the rapper being an "unsigned act" for too much longer. Dude just knows his lane (that lane being summer-friendly hip-pop with wit-heavy lyricism and hooks that stick like honey to the brain), and that sense of self-awareness, combined with the notable amount of artistic growth he's undergone between this release and last summer's popular Pep Rally (including Allen shying away from the [...]

Rapper/producer Hoodie Allen just released his latest mixtape titled Leap Year . The 22-year old former Google employee has a sound and persona that's reminiscent of Asher Roth, Sam Adams, or duo Chiddy Bang. Some of the best tracks on Leap Year include "Song for an Actress," "The Chase is On," and "#WhiteGirlProblems." Hoodie Allen is currently about to embark on a nation-wide tour, lasting through the end of August. Stream or download the mixtape below. DOWNLOAD : Hoodie [...]

Download the mixtape for free from here! So Hoodie's brand new mixtape dropped yesterday. I've listened to the entire thing and would love to tell you that this is a full in-depth album review, but quite honestly, it's not. Instead, I'm gonna give you some quick thoughts about the album. After one listen (while I was busy doing other things simultaneously), Leap Year has definitely got the elements that first drew me into Hoodie's music. It's got the classic Hoodie Allen cleverness and catchy backing tracks. Hoodie did, however, change things up [...]
