With Lions "Leaving Me" video Christian Celaya (Benzos) and Woody Ranere (Lake Trout) make up the group known as WITH LIONS and November 1st, 2011 marked the kick-off of an ambitious four-EPs-a-year cycle with the release of, "Touch the Sound." Epic and cinematic, With Lions' EPs are broken into mini scores. Dark, saturated harmony, their music can only be described in film terms. "We try to score life," says Celaya. Director Raffi Asdourian says, "When I first sat down with Woody and Christian to discuss their vision for With Lions, I instantly felt a kindred [...]

This morning was warm, sunny and quiet when I left for breakfast. When I got home, my yardmen were just finishing clearing the pine needles from the front lawn and the oak leaves from the deck and driveway. I could see grass and pavement for the first time in a long while; however, soon after the men left, the wind started again, and the pine needled have begun reclaiming the lawn. Now the clouds have rolled in and the sun has disappeared. The day is much like yesterday, drab. While I was talking to my sister, I watched [...]
Streets and backyards are covered with brown oak leaves, recent victims of the last three days of winds. Pine needles in the front yard cover the lawn and garden. My world is drab and messy. Today Miss Gracie is six years old. After I finish here, we have to go to Agway for dog food so she'll get to pick a couple of gifts and a treat or two. Gracie won't think this too special as it happens almost every time we go to Agway. Dogs are meant to be spoiled. I sent out my Thanksgiving [...]
That beautiful sun is on hiatus, and the last couple of days have been cloudy. Last night it rained. The oak tree by the driveway has only one branch left with any leaves. All the rest of the leaves have fallen and completely covered my driveway. The wind is blowing the bare branches and the day is completely uninviting. I have this vision of me in the living room on my chaise lounge listening to Hawaiian music and wearing something flowered while I drink out of a coconut with a small colorful umbrella and a cherry on a stick that [...]
"Leaving" arrives via Halifax, CA singer/songwriter David Myles and his recently released album Into the Sun , sounding something like a fusion of the sharp melodic pop/rock of Justin Currie's Del Amitri and the spangled folk songcraft of " Rhymin " Paul Simon. Myle's Sun , his fifth studio album, expands his mellow foray into Brazilian and African rhythms and even dishes up a pair of sleek and brassy instrumentals alongside [...]

Hi guys. Remember Alecks Awklr ? If not, check out this interview and the album review of his first LP . He recently sent me the songs from he's next EP, I thought I'd share some of them with you. My favorite one would be Granted , love the atmosphere, the mix between violins and loud drums adds something moving to the vocals. [...]
Colossal Gospel sent us a listen to their album Circles which they released this summer. Times like these make me glad that we started Sirens of Decay. I may have never found these guys otherwise - you just never know. What I do know is that "Leaving" is one of the coolest tracks I've heard in a while. I can't put my finger on what makes it so wonderful - is it the layers of vocals, the rolling/galloping sound of the instrumentation, or just the simple fact that it sounds beautiful and fresh? Whatever it is, for [...]
Last night I fell asleep to the sound of rain and this morning I woke to it. When I went to get the papers, I was surprised at how warm the day felt. I expected that damp chill which seems to find your bones. The rain stopped for a bit but has started again, and I can watch it fall through the den window. Gracie's just came in and her coat is all wet. The ground is strewn with leaves brought down by the wind and rain. It gives the yard the look of fall. When I was [...]

Ah d éjà vu . While less than a month has passed since I harped on about Melbourne pin up The Tortoise 's new EP She Took The Tortoise Home, in the next few minutes I'm probably going to write something similar about his newer new EP Lost Forever. Not set to hit shelves until Monday (17th), Lost Forever is Torquhil Anderson's third EP in the space of about 12 months, and whilst each release hits its own unique [...]
Sun Hotel + Leaving + Ben Jones performing at One Eyed Jacks on October 7, 2011 Tweet
After the first track he did for our Deep Love 50 compilation earlier this year The Tortoise from Melbourne is ready for a full release on Dirt Crew. Just after his great record on Undertones last september he spreads more of his spectacular deep sounds with "Lost Forever" and "2nd Chance". Two beautiful tracks that are journeys into space, soulful and groovy. On top we asked Iron Curtis to do a remix, together with his partner Leaves he dropped a great jacking chicago gem. This is true Autumn Music.
10.06: Sore Eros + Renderers + Julie Odell - The Saint 10.07: Sun Hotel + Leaving + Ben Jones - One Eyed Jacks It's no secret we give the post-Gospel swamp rockers in Sun Hotel a lot of press, but equally obvious should be how and why they manage to keep the attention of local music enthusiasts of all stripes: These guys never stop. This insistence on perpetual motion - touring, recording, solo/side project-ing - has imbued the band with an impressive [...]
