Tour Dates: Soulive Brings Bowlive Back To Brooklyn Bowl As a music fan in the New York City area there are two things you can essentially count on each March. For the fourth year in a row the jazz-funk trio will set up shop at the multipurpose venue for eight nights, which will run from March 7-9 and then pick up again from the 12-16. As in years past the band will be joined by an array of special [...]

I am guessing things in the Cohen household are pretty rosy at the moment. Cohen himself handled himself remarkably releasing a typically poetic statement. Meanwhile his eldest son Adam Cohen released the [...]

Interview: Jeremy Bolm of Touché Amoré on oversharing, Leonard Cohen, and whether Ryan Gosling really was at that American Nightmare show or not.

Interview: Jeremy Bolm of Touché Amoré on oversharing, Leonard Cohen, and whether Ryan Gosling really was at that American Nightmare show or not. When  Touché Amoré tore up London at the end of last month, Alex Andrews caught up with Jeremy Bolm to talk about the anxiety that comes with playing bigger venues and supporting a reformed American Nightmare .  Jeremy Bolm sits perched on a sofa, devouring what’s left of a sauce-covered chicken leg. Having only been introduced to Nando’s the day before by the boys in Basement, the Touché Amoré frontman appears as fascinated with the restaurant as the flocks of [...]

Leonard Cohen cancels Hawaiian gig, adds stops in Vancouver and Oakland

From his music, you can tell Leonard Cohen has felt a lot of pain, anguish that he vividly describes in heartbreaking song after heartbreaking song. Turns out, though, his fans may feel the same. Cohen has canceled a December 4th gig in the island paradise of Hawaii for shows in Vancouver (where he'll freeze to death) and Oakland (where he'll die from lack of drinks that come in coconuts). According to Pollstar , AEG Live nixed the gig due to “prohibitive and insurmountable logistical issues", which probably means they ran out of leis. [...]

Leonard Cohen will end tour in America after all

Leonard Cohen - Suzanne (promo Live in London 2008)
If you're bummed about Leonard Cohen ’s two-year tour ending in Cambodia this November, then fret no more. The 75-year-old master wordsmith/coolest old guy ever has added four stateside dates to the tail end of his itinerary. Although east coast fans of the Canadian crooner are going to have to hop a flight to see him, the extra shows will probably be worth the investment. Jambase reports that the performances will be at “intimate, 3,000 capacity venues” and this current run of tour dates did come after 15 years of retirement. While he is planning [...]

Leonard Cohen announces first album in seven years

Despite how busy Leonard Cohen has been with a couple years' worth of comeback touring, the current coolest guy over 70 hasn't released an album in six years. Thankfully, that will soon change. Where's your new album at, fellow awardee Phil Collins? TwentyFourBit reports the LP will feature songs debuted on last year's world tour, and that he will soon [...]

Review: Leonard Cohen at The Paramount Theater

Leonard Cohen banters at The Paramount Theater
Leonard Cohen performs at the second of three sold out shows at The Paramount Theater in Oakland, CA. It struck me last night when I was choosing which show to cover, that us San Franciscans are damn lucky to have so many fine live music choices on a Tuesday night. Who needs Coachella when you live in a place as brimming with great live music as the city by the bay. Case in point: last night one had the choice of Green Day's last minute secret show at The Fox, Fleet Foxes at [...]

The ramifications of this are far reaching: For one, that's just a long time. Now, it seems that Mr. Cohen is determined to give his fans across the states a heart attack by announcing an extensive slew of spring tour dates earlier today. Why such a fuss? Leonard Cohen Tour Dates, New Live Record Out 3/31

Leonard Cohen Tour Dates, New Live Record Out 3/31 Everything I've heard about Cohen live is it's a rather intimate show, and the enclosed smaller space that is the Beacon Theater is perfect for that. What will be interesting is to see how something like this works in venues the size of Coachella or Red Rocks. Tuning up for a spring North American tour, Leonard Cohen played his first show on American soil in 15 years last night (Feb. 19) at New York's Beacon Theatre. The three-hour performance featured all of Cohen's classics, including "Suzanne," "Bird on the Wire" and "Hallelujah." Cohen, 74, broke [...]
