This will be our last post this year with some kind of Christmas approach. And we must end it in style, with the most loved (and hated) Christmas theme ever, "Last Christmas" from 1984 by Wham! In 1984, Wham! released "Last Christmas" as the flipside of the single "Everything She Wants" (which is, by the way, a pretty good song). I didn't pay much attention, having found "Young Guns (Go for It!)" to be silly, "Bad Boys" to be negligible and "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" to be one of life's greatest tortures. Dearest Friends, you may recall that last Christmas Santa FiL got a bit too full of seasonal spirit(s) and utterly disgraced the red suit. It's true. However, I'm relieved to say that this year he's stayed off the egg nog. Well, not entirely, but he hasn't dissolved his brain in it. Well I did it. I waited `til after Thanksgiving to post my Christmas mix. So far a lot of these songs are from last year (or years past), hell I even recycled the photo. Ill do my best to update this mix as new songs appear. I love these songs. They are some of the best Christmas songs youre likely to hear and for a large part they are ones Ive dug up first. Thanks to the Songs I Wish archive I've got a new (old) song to add to the Swedesplease Christmas Mix. The track, a cover of Wham's "Last Christmas", was a standout from years past. It's a duo of Le Sport on beats and Montt Mardie on vocals. The song is as syrupy and sweet as they come and I think the song is actually improved upon in this version. Covering Wham!'s 'Last Christmas' seems to be a holiday favourite. There have been trance versions, a Disney-Pop one, even an acoustic rendition.
