Last Christmas collection

by Tracasseur

This will be our last post this year with some kind of Christmas approach. And we must end it in style, with the most loved (and hated) Christmas theme ever, "Last Christmas" from 1984 by Wham! We've collected some versions of this cracker where actually all of them are really good versions. Really like the Holmes Price edit, the new version to play forthcoming Christmases. Wham! - Last Christmas (Holmes Price Edit) Wham! - Last Christmas (Irregular Disco Workers Edit) Wham! - [...]

Alternative Versions of Last Christmas

by The Pop View

In 1984, Wham! released "Last Christmas" as the flipside of the single "Everything She Wants" (which is, by the way, a pretty good song). I didn't pay much attention, having found "Young Guns (Go for It!)" to be silly, "Bad Boys" to be negligible and "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" to be one of life's greatest tortures. As the years passed, covers of "Last Christmas" kept showing up in my collection and the song finally grew on me. I still don't care for the original version by Wham! In fact, I would argue that the [...]

by pogo a go-go

Dearest Friends, you may recall that last Christmas Santa FiL got a bit too full of seasonal spirit(s) and utterly disgraced the red suit. It's true. However, I'm relieved to say that this year he's stayed off the egg nog. Well, not entirely, but he hasn't dissolved his brain in it. That said, there's still Christmas itself to get through, and a bottle of medicinal vodka in the freezer. Just in case...
by SwedesPlease

Well I did it. I waited `til after Thanksgiving to post my Christmas mix. So far a lot of these songs are from last year (or years past), hell I even recycled the photo. Ill do my best to update this mix as new songs appear. I love these songs. They are some of the best Christmas songs youre likely to hear and for a large part they are ones Ive dug up first. So Enjoy and Merry Christmas (three weeks early). P.S. Im so low tech its not even funny so if someone wants to create a [...]

Le Sport and Montt Mardie Cover Whams Last Christmas (plus the same song from Pas/Cal and a Wham video - I couldnt resist!)

by SwedesPlease

Thanks to the Songs I Wish archive I've got a new (old) song to add to the Swedesplease Christmas Mix. The track, a cover of Wham's "Last Christmas", was a standout from years past. It's a duo of Le Sport on beats and Montt Mardie on vocals. The song is as syrupy and sweet as they come and I think the song is actually improved upon in this version. Here's the song, which you can also get to here on the main Christmas Mix post page. Last Christmas [...]

by Pretentious Prattle

Covering Wham!'s 'Last Christmas' seems to be a holiday favourite. There have been trance versions, a Disney-Pop one, even an acoustic rendition. How many different ways can that famous chorus be heard in? How about 118?! Amazingly, Last Christmas has a collection of 118 versions (and counting) of the 1984 single. I've gone through about half of them, and before I grow sick of the song, these are my favourites.
