"Gossip Girl here. Your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite." Now, while your phones may not be constantly ringing with blasts from Gossip Girl covering the latest news regarding Serena (Blake Lively), Blair (Leighton Meester), and their slew of family and friends' privileged lives (flawlessly balanced between turmoil and perfection), the phenomenal soundtrack is sure to stay ringing in your ears. From the drugs and partying to the twisted relationships full of lies, deceit, and love, CW's Gossip Girl has found the ideal tracks to set the backdrop and atmosphere for the fast-pasted, [...]

Color me eager to hear new material from these 10 artists: Beachwood Sparks — Yes it's true, the twangy psych-rockers, whose last release was back in 2002 on Sub Pop, have a new album that's being mixed. Bone up on their history . Look for perhaps a spring release. Robert Francis (pictured above) — After his August residency at the Bootleg, I expected news about "Strangers in the First Place," the album that Francis has completed [...]

The summer concert fun is never over until you've wiped the butter from your chin. Which is to say that the Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival is approaching — the three day event is Sept. 16, 17 and 18, and the lineup, again curated by ex-Indie 103.1 music director Mark Sovel , offers some of the best local bands around playing an outdoor stage at Ports O'Call Village in San Pedro. After kicking off Friday night with the triple-headliner bill of White Arrows , Andy Clockwise and the Fling , [...]

I know, we couldn't believe it ether. The female dynamite Maya Jane Coles is back with another cracking EP titled Focus Now, brought to us by the amazing 20:20 Vision . As usual MJC totally reaffirms her position as one of the best house producers in the circuit. My personal favourite track off the EP is titled Little One, this track takes you on a melodic journey and refuses to let you go. Maya Jane Coles - Little One [Buy]

Silverlake Jubilee 's second day went off without a hitch, and attending the festival on Sunday seemed to be the perfect way to wind down before the work week ahead. The food trucks were still ready to serve, local music traveled through the air and the sun and breeze made the festival seem like a spring fling. ||| Photos by Laurie Scavo Despite the weekend coming to an end, bands played like it was Friday night and ignored the June gloom just waiting in the [...]

It's already been a year since the last SILVER LAKE JUBILEE , a good time for 2 days, filled with food trucks, art booths and over 50 bands. This year's live music was curated in partnership with the Silver Lake Jubilee Music Advisory Committee, Origami Vinyl, and Spaceland Productions. There are some of LA's finest up and coming acts throughout the weekend, here are a few highlights: We Are The World, Crystal Antlers, The Little Ones, Rainbow Arabia, Summer Darling, The Black Apples, Jail Weddings, Slang Chickens, [...]
This installment of our intermittent mixtapes, The Buzzsicle, Vol. 13, is devoted to the weekend's second annual Silverlake Jubilee , which gives you a lot of bang for 5 bucks. I've compiled an hour's worth of music from 18 of the artists playing the festival. Enjoy. ||| Download: The Buzzsicle 13 (84 MB) After the jump, the tracklisting: Songs by 18 of the bands playing the 2011 Silverlake Jubilee, May 21-22. Mix curated by [...]

[There is a video that cannot be displayed in this feed. Visit the blog entry to see the video.] Please grant the Blind I team a late pass for posting this new video for "Little One." Autism is a cause the singer has helped spread awareness about, since his own son was diagnosed with the condition. The words to the song will nearly bring tears to your eyes. I really respect him for using his music as a platform for dialogue.
The Little Ones - "Lovers Who Uncover" This song was made big by Crystal Castles - who covered it it in 2009. They hail from Los Angeles - and I definitely can get the vibe of the beach from this song. Lovers Who Uncover is just sweet and infectious. There's a Pot a Brewin ', also from their first EP, is nothing short of a bonfire beat. The Little Ones style is aptly described as "cute indie rock" and I'm not sure that they are anything else. Bongo drums, [...]

Dig this: New York City four-piece the Dig — not to be confused with old '90s faves Dig — named their band in honor of the movie "Dig," the Brian Jonestown Massacre/Dandy Warhols documentary. (I know, that's a lot of Digs in one sentence.) The Dig's sometimes-atmospheric, always-hooky indie-rock only has a little bit in common with the movie's purveyors of psychedelia, though. "Electric Toys," the debut album from singer David Baldwin, singer-bassist Emile Mosseri, keyboardist Erick Eiser and drummer Jamie Alegreir, has the radio-friendly pop-step of bands like the Strokes and Editors (with whom they've [...]
