Live Nation President and CEO Michael Rapino is upbeat about the live industry's prospects in 2012. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Rapino reiterated what the company had teased in an earlier quarterly earnings report; business in 2012 was up as much as 14%. Live Nation is facing a lawsuit from two local New Jersey concert promoters after they claimed Live Nation used threats and coercion to prevent the promoters from booking acts for the State Fair Meadowlands last summer. Thomas Dorfman and Chris Barrett, principals of Juice Entertainment in Saddle Brook, claim they lost their contract with the fair management because of interference by Live Nation. Live Nation has tapped hired veteran Canadian electronic music producer Ryan Kruger to helm their long-rumored but newly launched electronic music division, Electronic Nation Canada. Live Nation announced their third-quarter results last week, revealing a 1.4% rise in Q3 earnings , despite a decrease in revenue from lower concert attendance . According to their Q3 filing, Live Nation saw worldwide concert attendance decline from 16,489,000 in Q3 2010 to 15,561,000 in Q3 2011 and a similar drop in estimated U.S. attendance from 12,820,000 in 2010 to 12,257,000.
