Back in 2003, it seemed as if the new wave sound was really starting to resonate with the indier-than-thou culture. While electroclash fell by the wayside, the damage had already been done. The innovation, style and expressive sounds that made the 80s the most dominant decade in music was back in vogue. Indie bands simply had to find a synth-geek and a drummer who at least heard Shack Up by A Certain Ratio and the arms race.
