Having already staged two South American legs this year, one of North America’s biggest live music events will return to home soil in the summer with over 160,000 festivalgoers with Lollapalooza tickets expected to descend upon Chicago’s Grant Park on the weekend of Aug 2-4. Several acts who performed at the Brazilian date at Sao Paulo’s The Jockey Club in March and the Chilean version at Santiago’s Parque O’Higgins in April will grace the Lollapalooza stage for a second, and in some cases third, time in the space of six months including Queens Of The Stone Age, Two [...]
Glam-pop heartthrobs Smith Westerns will drop Soft Will on June 25, the follow-up to their solid 2011 effort, Dye It Blonde . The first single from Soft Will is "Varsity," a slightly new wave and mellow tune that's pretty darn catchy. The band also released a video for "Varsity," which for fans of fruit and intense make-out sessions, will definitely please. In other Smith Westerns news, you can catch the band at Lollapalooza 2013 in August , but check out the video for [...]

It happens every summer: Lineup after lineup entices you to join their party, visit some distant city or town, and brave the heat and crowds in the name of music. Whether it's trekking outside of Seattle, navigating traffic in Tennessee, squeezing onto the BART in San Francisco, or copping rides in Los Angeles - you'll do whatever's necessary to make that experience a reality. Don't you want to make it count, though? Sometimes a festival isn't for everyone. Maybe you're not into mud. There's a chance that agoraphobia of yours might act up at The Gorge. Who [...]

The schedule for this year's Lollapalooza is live! The popular festival, taking place August 2nd - 4th, has been growing steadily since it settled in Chicago a few years ago. Some highlights from this year's festival include Kendrick Lamar, Chance the Rapper, New Order, and Wavves. Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of music festivals; they're expensive, always outside and dirty, smell bad, consist of schedule conflicts, and full of drunk and/or high people. But hey, it's all for the love of music, right? You can check out the Lollapalooza 2013 Schedule in a PDF provided by [...]

The downside to having one of the year’s best lineups ? There’s inevitably going to be quite a few nasty conflicts. Jessie Ware or IO Echo? Smith Westerns or Ghost B.C? Here's a real toughie: Queens of the Stone Age, New Order, Disclosure, and Chance the Rapper all playing overlapping sets. On Saturday, you’ll have to choose between Mumford and [...]

Every day since we decided to post our top 10 favorite songs of ALL TIME, I have kept a piece of paper with me and throughout the day I would write down a song that came to mind. Erasing my whole “pop-punk” phase (Taking Back Sunday would probably be the only thing on my list), this assignment was pretty easy. Yes, you are probably amazed that my list isn’t a combination of Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake and a dash of Beyonce, but honestly those artists would have their own top 10 lists. I absolutely hate the question of "What is [...]

Filed under: The Hit List HENRY DILTZ, AFP/Getty Images When Rhode Island's Newport Jazz Festival debuted in 1954, audience members sat in neat rows of folding chairs and applauded politely for acts like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and the Dizzy Gillespie Quintet. Six years later, fans were so anxious to get into the festival, a riot occurred as ticket-less music lovers stormed the gates during a Ray Charles set, prompting a visit from the National Guard. Pase a revisar.
