YouTube today announced plans to live stream the forthcoming Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits festivals. In addition to live streaming the performances from the festivals, YouTube will also stream live interviews and backstage footage. Lollapalooza is set to take place August 5-7 in Chicago while Austin City Limits will run September 16-18 in Austin, Texas.

The Strokes have confirmed their first U.S. festival appearance. Speaking to Chicago Tribune writer Greg Kot , Julian Casablancas revealed that the band will be headlining this year's Lollapalooza Festival . The three-day bash is set to take place from August 6-8 at Chicago's Grant Park. The Strokes are currently in the midst of recording their fourth studio album which, as we previously reported, is due out in September. The Strokes

The dates for the 2009 Lollapalooza festival have been announced and the event will be held August 7,8,9 at Grant Park in Chicago, Il. According to a press release, the organizers, C3 Presents "checked the Farmer's Almanac, got a tarot reading, mined historic S&P data and shook the Magic 8 Ball to determine the date for next year's show."
