In the one month that I first posted about Deap Vally , I've since seen them live at Austin Psych Fest and watched their buzzometer build. Now the duo has acquired Vevo status with the platform premiering their new single, "Baby I Can Hell". The single is off Deap Vally's upcoming debut album Sistrionix , slated for US release in September. The gritty track is raising hell across the pond, with BBC Radio 1 crowing it the 'Hottest Record' this week. Like I said, these girls are burning up and [...]

Ok I know I promised more posts after the whole moving thing but here's what happened last week. Monday and Tuesday moving. Then I finally found a place to have a drink (or two) then I came home and passed out. I still haven't unpacked. Thursday I worked until 10 pm because I have a report to present tomorrow. It was killing [...]

Kylie Minogue has so much to give, she is already talking about her 12th album! The diva is ready to take on the world with Roc Nation on this dance album. She said: “It’s bringing out something different in me, which is cool,” she asserts. “I need to know what it is to do something different – different style of delivery, different beats, different subject matter. I think that I am a natural chameleon, so that floats my boat”. She went on that the album “will maintain the DNA of what a Kylie track is, [...]

A few years back, a respected blogger of mine told me that if you don't have anything to say about a song, it's not worth posting. But for me, sometimes the music is all I have to say. I can usually wrap a story around a song or at least put some entertainment with it, but sometimes I haven't had enough time with the music and it's just too hot to sit on. Well, I've been sitting on Madeaux's EP for far too long now. The first two tracks are especially worth looking into, with [...]
Woodkid is finally making his Los Angeles debut this week! After canceling last year's show at the Luckman Fine Arts Complex, Yoann Lemoine, AKA Woodkid will be headlining the Fonda Theatre on Wednesday, May 8. Woodkid is touring in support...

Photos and words by Debi Del Grande It's so refreshing to go to a show without looking through someone's cell phone. Most music fans were completely "there" at The Fonda last night as Simon Green, AKA Bonobo, brought his latest The North Borders accompanied by a band that played almost every instrument imaginable. I couldn't help noticing one guy in the string section who also plays with Portugal the Man. This guy is always having a good time. Vocals were angelic as Szjerdene graced the stage on many numbers. Every musician on stage [...]

Photos and words by Scott Sheff Boise, Idaho bands took over The Troubadour with veteran indie rockers Built to Spill headlining the two-night run and up-and-comers Junior Rocket Scientist paving the way. Built to Spill came out jamming from the get-go, and did not relent throughout the night. Lead singer Doug Martsch and bandmates shredded through a set of songs off BTS' collection of studio albums, but also included a couple covers from two very different bands. While its cover of Blue Oyster Cult’s “Don’t Fear the Reaper” was enthralling and thoroughly enjoyed by the crowd, [...]

VIEW MORE PHOTOS FROM THE EVENT HERE . It's quite a blessing that of all the towns and cities around the world, Armin van Buuren chose Los Angeles to premiere his spectacular new album, Intense ( album review here ). LA has always meant a great deal to the trance king and his fans made sure to express their overwhelming appreciation on Saturday night. Although there wasn't an official dress code for the night, it might as well have been an unofficial white party event with hundreds of die-hard fans wearing [...]
