Thunder Power is loose-knit Omaha-based musical collective that's been hanging around in one form or another since 2006, but is only just getting around to recording their proper full-length debut. Once you check out this video, you won't be surprised that Slumber Party Records has signed the band, but you'll likely ask yourself, "What took so long?" Recorded at Omaha's Love Drunk Studio, Night Creatures makes it perfectly clear that Thunder Power is a band that understands dynamics, recalling a Moe Tucker-fronted Velvet Underground with just a splash of Pixies. I was right about to make a review of the new album from Vampire Weekend, when I stubbled upon the breaking news. Our beloved punker Jay Reatard (Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr.) died in his sleep at around 3:30 a.m yesterday (Jan. 13) in his home at Memphis. I simply couldn't believe it. I personally loved his punchy punk tunes and free spirit. We even saw him live 2 years ago in Roskilde, where he rocked (at least for a couple of songs before he jumped into the crowd!). Beck and the Pixies where from the first to offer their condolences [...]
