I got back from Los Angeles to see that Lupe Fiasco has cancelled the 2013 release of Food & Liquor 2: Part II .  The cancellation comes seemingly out of nowhere, since Lupe had been promoting the project for the last year and half or so, and was very vocal about how it would fulfill his contract with Atlantic, and he let him pursue other arts.  Lupe announced the change via two short and sweet tweets, which he then deleted and then closed his Twitter account entirely.  He left his followers with one final message, "The # [...]

Lupe Fiasco's "Food and Liquor 2" drops tomorrow and some blogs around the hip hop world have already gotten advanced copies of what Lupe Fiasco is calling "My best album yet." The critics are agreeing too, giving Lupe's album great reviews across the board. I do though give Lupe an "F-" for album art, even though I'm pretty sure he could contrive a detailed reasoning of why his album has no album art at all. More info for the upcoming Lupe Fiasco release. The source for this, FactMag , offered a scathing evaluation of Lupe's ego, saying that 'It looks like Fiasco’s rocketed off the top of the self-importance scale with this one', but I gotta disagree. Firstly, Lupe is very, very good and a very intelligent MC, and tracks like Failure and Dumb it Down are good arguments to suggest Fiasco is the premier practitioner of wordplay heard in Hip Hop. Instead of just spittin' about politics, this time around Lupe Fiasco went for more politically correct.  In his newest single, "Bitch Bad" from the upcoming album, Lupe goes on the defensive standing up for all the women out there.  The title of the track really tells the whole story.  The use of the term "Bitch" is "Bad" and women are portrayed all too often in a lower light via the media.  I can only assume he's taking a shot at the one and only Nicki Minaj in parts of this video by showing a scantily dressed girl with pink [...]

Any doubts I had about Food And Liquor II have been quashed. This is Lupe at his best, raw lyricism you won't find in anyone or anything else right about now. Backed by a synth beat which sounds like it'd come straight outta Bladerunner chase scene in a kick+subwoofer shop, Lupe's impeccable flow doesn't give you any time for any rest. This is full on.
