Since the new year began we've had the pleasure of watching Arcade Fire along with Fleet Foxes and Joanna Newsom perform on Austin City Limits and this weekend the good stuff kept on coming. When Lykke Li was on tour down under, she popped by Triple J HQ for an acoustic live session. For the station's "Like A Version" segment which is basically an Aussie version of Live Lounge, she delivered a haunting cover of The Righteous Brothers ' 1965 classic "Unchained Melody" . The perennially brooding Swede's got that uncanny ability to sing like she's alone in a cavernous cathedral, even if she's just sitting comfily in a studio. Change of plans. P&P is now going to become a Lykke Li fansite. Just yesterday I was trying to explain to someone that my obsession with Lykke Li is mostly just a joke for entertainment purposes - highly exaggerated and inflated to comical proportions. Halfway through trying to explain this, I realized that I was straight up lying. It's not a joke. Not at all. Amidst a stormy New York City week (leading up to the Apocalypse on Saturday so they say ) Swedish pop goddess Lykke Li graced the stage at Webster Hall for two sold out consecutive gigs.  Lykke Li 's dramatic entrance on Wednesday night was forecasted with pulsating strobe lights,  strategically placed drapes that billowed and twisted in the smoke-filled air and her instrumental track Come Near .
