We've not really given enough love to M83 here on SKOA, so we apologise for that. You may or may not be aware that they put together a great soundtrack to the latest Tom Cruise blockbuster, Oblivion. Tom Cruise's sci-fi thriller Oblivion is out this weekend and in support of the upcoming film, M832s Anthony Gonzalez stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to perform the soundtrack's title track . Alongside Norwegian singer Susanne Sundfør and backed by a full orchestra, Gonzalez put on a truly moving rendition of the song; one that feels much more deserving of an amphitheatre than a television studio. Yesterday, Pitchfork published an interview with M83 main man Anthony Gonzalez in which he talked about scoring the new sci-fi movie Oblivion , saying that he almost quit the project and that the Hollywood experience severely bummed him out. He mentions a few times that his soundtrack for the movie isn't really an M83 album, that fans shouldn't expect one. But " Oblivion ," his soundtrack collaboration with the Norwegian singer Susanne Sundfør, certainly sounds like an M83 song, with all its blaring widescreen triumph. Lets be honest, after six cinematic albums it feels somewhat overdue for M83 to be soundtracking a blockbuster hollywood film.
