All the best things happen in SXSW. This is a life lesson we will all eventually learn. Above is some footage of Major Lazer and Amber Coffman of Dirty Projectors performing "Get Free" live for the very first time. It's interesting to see Major Lazer channel a completely different energy on stage here alongside the demure Coffman, as most of their material is substantially more upbeat. Instead, everyone both on and off stage just mellow out to Coffman's soothing vocals. Check out the performance above.

Following Skrillex's new tune in a denim commercial , more heavyweight dance music has made its way into commercials. This time it's Major Lazer's collaboration with Shaggy and Wynter Gordan, "Keep Cool," premiered by HBO in the recent Vice trailer. The track helps set the trailer's intense content, from the production of Major Lazer to the vocal from Shaggy. The homie Tokyo Shawn is here today with some new material, in the form of #SavingTheTrap today on "OD", his take on Flosststradmus's  2012 Original Don (Remix) anthem. Shawn is right a home here, and we would mind hearing more of the similar, cough*flosstradmus**cough.  Lookout for a special release coming from Tokyo Shawn, a week from today (Teaser Below). So this is pretty awesome. The Dirty Projectors recently went on the Australia's Triple J radio and covered Usher's excellent, "Climax" for the station's well-named  "Like A Version" segment . The Diplo -produced original is one of our our favorite songs by Usher , and Dirty Projectors' signature harmonies gives the song new life. It also makes us want to listen to  "Get Free,"  the Amber Coffman featuring single from Major Lazer's forthcoming  Free The Universe , which is out February 19. [...]

If you are like me, then you cannot get enough of or wait for Major Lazer 's upcoming album, Free the Universe . The record will be out in two months, and will be the sophomore release from the electronic/dancehall group. The trailer features the fictional character and a host of his intergalactic enemies with a Major Lazer dub of Busy’s “Boomayay” playing over the 50-second clip.These guys are just too fucking cool. Major Lazer 's collaboration with UK heavy hitter Flux Pavillion is a mix of genres but the video is a party scene. By party scene I mean it's a video showing Diplo and friends on the road, bringing their music to the masses via parties and festivals. It looks like one hell of a good time. Free The Universe is out 2/19 on Mad Decent / Downtown and you can now enjoy a tantalising tease for that below as well. Happy Wednesday.

Major Lazer's recent single " Jah No Partial ," a collaboration with EDM dude Flux Pavilion, is a weird but exhilarating collision between arena-dubstep and old-school reggae. And its brand-new video shows Diplo and friends on the road, bringing their ridiculously fun live show to festivals across the world. (Belgium, we learn, goes off .)
