I will admit that I wasn't a fan of Margot and the Nuclear So & So's last album, Buzzard , mainly because the band led by Richard Edwards decided to shed some of the band's members and transition from a chamber rock sound to a more guitar based sound. It wasn't the best move in my opinion. The band recently premiered their new song "Prozac Rock" further distancing the band from Margot of the past and seemingly becoming Nada Surf. The Twilight Singers gave a taut, powerful performance on Wednesday night at the Music Box, with Greg Dulli and crew pounding through a set that featured a cameo by Mark Lanegan and included material from their latest album "Dynamite Steps." Tweet Slowcore is a genre which has had a shortage of flag-bearers over the years, especially post-2000. A genre that was basically constructed as anti-grunge was always going to struggle for appeal once grunge itself faded from the spotlight. It makes sense, but it's still a bummer.
