"Shannon" is the second track off Margot And The Nuclear So And So's' fourth LP, Rot Gut, Domestic, out now via the band's Mariel Recording Company. The track is full of fuzzy bass stomp, salty grime, muffled vocals and loud guitar with strong melodies. Download "Shannon" below. "Shannon" (download):

Let’s put the silly name aside for now and look at the music in Margot & The Nuclear So And So's new album Rot Gut, Domestic. Music Player (reviews): [...]

Frank Yang If you were to ask me what I thought MOG did - and for the life of me I can't imagine why you would - the best I could offer is that they excel at getting my exhausted ass out of bed early on the Saturday of SXSW to go line up at The Mohawk so I can stand around for hours on end. They did it last year with a bill of Smith Westerns , Wild Flag , Okkervil River and TV On [...]
After nearly five years since their last album, the long awaited, highly anticipated, and already wildly popular, new album by The Shins, Port of Morrow, was officially dropped this week. The release followed weeks of build-up and buzz, and was complimented by appearances on SNL, The Late Show, SXSW, and widespread coverage on mainstream media [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe

New visual from the Indianapolis group.

Frank Yang Know what makes it a bit difficult to concentrate on covering stuff in the afternoon? Finding out in the morning that you've won a ticket to see Bruce Springsteen in an intimate theatre show that night. Not bragging - okay, a little - just adding some context. And bragging. Yeah. Anyways, after doing my victory dance (don't pretend you don't have a victory dance) I did get out into the world to check out a day show at Jackalope run by fellow blogger Rawkblog that featured [...]

Frank Yang A little time off can be nice, but as much as I was enjoying the very unusual but welcome two-week break from show leading up to SXSW this week, it was also making me a bit antsy. Thank goodness for the Young Prisms in-store at the new Kensington Market location of Sonic Boom, in advance of their show that evening at The Drake. It would give me a quick, convenient way of scratching the live music itch and also let me pick up some LP sleeves. Everybody wins. I [...]

I've tried to get into Margot & The Nuclear So and So's over the years, but not with much success. I caught them live before when they played with Wild Sweet Orange and Kaiser Cartel and really enjoyed the live show. I went home and downloaded a bunch of their music, but it didn't impress me as much as when watching the 8-piece band in the basement at the First Unitarian Church. They've released a lead single for Rot Gut, Domestic entitled "Shannon". They'll be touring in support of the new album this spring, including a [...]

In each month of this new year, Margot & The Nuclear So & Sos have given us a new morsel in anticipation of their forthcoming LP, Rot Gut, Domestic . In January, it was " Prozac Rock ," and in February, a new video for the cut. This month, they release the second single from the new album, " Shannon " - a raw and gritty, pop-rock love letter/warning that remains true to lead singer Richard Edwards' seemingly constant battles with love, loss, and self-loathing. [...]

The Indianapolis band schedule full North American trek.
So we typically toss a video onto a post when highlighting a new band or a show preview or something and let you draw your own conclusion about it. Sometimes we throw a change-up... strike that - let’s call it a round up. Most of these videos are of bands we have previously talked about here on Draw Us Lines, so we won’t be telling you much about those bands themselves, just some musings that really aren’t worth a damn. If a picture is worth 1000 words, then a video must be worth a million. Hold on to your hats! [...]
