1. Snowmine - "The Hill" Typically by the time there's snow settling outside I'm listening religiously to somber acoustic songs. This year that has not been the case.Brooklyn natives Snowmine and their sweet little track "The Hill" exemplifies the more upbeat music I'm digging into lately. Today's take me back before music made me pretentious moment comes from the summer of 2003. I realize before even making this list that it will bring obvious flaws in my taste of music to light which is something i'm fine with. My entire premise behind heycoolkid! has always been to present music that may or may not be "scene" enough for other blogs and at the same time bring attention to the music that i love and wish others would as well. ("others" meaning people whose opinions i actually care about, i'm pretty sure those people do exist, god [...]
Ok, I'm biased... and most of you know that. But you NEED this album. And I mean "need" as in you're going to look really dumb next time you're hanging out with your friends and someone inevitably says, "Oh my gosh, you need to play that incredible Eisley song with the harmonies, great guitar tones, [...]

River City Extension's frontman Joe Michelini (guitar, vocals), was backed by only two of the usual seven members of his ensemble; multi-instrumentalist Jenn Fantaccione with only her cello and guitar in tow, (she's known to pick up brass as well), and drummer Mike Costaney on a kit.

so can I lie in your grave at the edge of the end of the world where I will sit with my love, in its fluorescent swirl eat us up, break it down to the tiniest cell in a room with a view and a window to hell with those who bury bodies into barrels of fun will be marched through museums that display what they've done they'll be shot up through the sky by the cannon of sin, and we'll reluctantly let them in [...]

Lights up and six men dressed like Don Draper on a casual Sunday afternoon, minus the kick ass cardigan, launch into a frenzied set packed with energy, fury and rocking out with ones cock out. Central to this band of crazed young rockers is one Max Bemis, rock star, triple threat, recovering addict and brand new poster boy for living with bi-polar. As the set grows and swells, Bemis, lead singer of Say Anything , becomes more disheveled, looking less like Don Draper with each passing moment of frenzied musical bliss, until he stands, catching his [...]
