We're going to let Norah Jones take a bow today as the most anticipated new album today -- and with good reason. Little Broken Hearts , her very different, very interesting collaboration with Brian "Danger Mouse" Burton puts her in a whole new light. Also on tap are three albums that we think are among the best releases of the year: the excellent and quite adventurous art-pop from Norway's Ane Brun , the fine Crown and Treaty from DC faves Sweet Billy Pilgrim (U.K. only) and the latest from Montreal's brilliant [...]

Photo by G. General Strike - May 1 NO WORK! NO SCHOOL! NO HOUSEWORK! NO SHOPPING! NO BANKING! NO DATA! Will you be participating or will you be standing on the sidelines complaining about how much things suck?
Kwes. is a London based electronic pop singer/ producer his EP Meantime is set to drop May 1. Until then he has released this new track from the EP that should definitely peak your interest if you're into this kind of music. The track features a lot of soft percussion covered in warm humming synthesizers. The most defining feature of the production is definitely the bass with its distorted rumble throughout the track it really ties all of the other aspects together. With the vocals it is reminiscent of the SBTRKT collaborations with Sampha on songs like "Hold On". Unlike SBTRKT this song [...]

Photo by G. May 1st General Strike - PASS IT ON!!!!!! Listen up New York! We are ALL sick of the way things have become. There's no doubt about that. Up until now, all we do is complain and just accept our miserable fate that nothing can be done about it. We've made excuses up the wazoo and when organizations like Occupy Wall Street came around and POINTED OUT clearly that WE the masses are in control instead of the 1% of the population that are [...]

We've seen of Montreal live a handful of times , and it is always a glorious spectacle, a peak into the genius, twisted mind of Kevin Barnes. But one thing we haven't experienced is of Montreal outdoors. Brandeis University 's Springfest gave us that chance, and it was truly a pleasure to dance along with Barnes in the warm, spring sun. Even though they had a sold-out show to perform that night at the Paradise Rock Club, they brought out a host of props and danced their hearts out. What can we say? of Montreal never [...]

Dom 's been receiving a ton of buzz around here, in part because they wrote a total jam with their hit "Living in America." Hilariously getting banned from Newbury Comics after their Record Store Day performance further proved that these Worcester guys attract fun, absurdity and trouble wherever they go. We got a taste of it at Brandeis University 's Springfest, where Dom played a short set to a sea of young faces basking in the unseasonably warm sun. Yes, it's that time of year for bands to hit the college circuit, and Springfest was a nice [...]

All photographs by Sebastien Dehesdin When Father Christmas wrote the bible (it was him, wasn’t it?), I suspect that he took Camden as the inspiration for Sodom and Gomorrah. The experience of walking through NW1 during a bank holiday weekend is, I imagine, pretty similar to that of taking a stroll around those iniquitous dens of horror. Disgusting over-consumption abounds, and kids with too much money and too few problems self-consciously stumble out of whichever over-priced, sticky-floored excuse for a pub happens to be on the corner of whichever heartwrenchingly fucking desolate street [...]

Camden Crawl is an annual event held up and down the main high street of Camden, where all of the venues, large and small, open themselves to wristband-wearing festival goers and put on an assortment of events, focused around live music, but including a bunch of other competitions and activities. The idea of Camden Crawl is to promote up and coming artists while also inviting some more well-established acts who have had a big influence on the music scene or may have once upon a time played Camden Crawl in their formative years. In the last few years the Crawl [...]

Photo by G. This Was Now This was now. This is the first Osama Bin Laden's death street art that I've come across (not withstanding the patriotic yahoos who took to the streets - who in and amongst themselves are certainly pieces of work). Does it signify the exact time when so many future redneck babies of America were conceived? Team America, Fuck yeah! Don't be so easily led, for your own sake! [...]

May 1, 2011. Longtime Al Qaeda leader and mastermind behind the horrific attacks on Sept. 11, 2011, was killed in a mansion outside of the Pakistani capital, Islamabad. President Obama called this, "the most significant achievement to date in our nation's effort to defeat al Qaeda." So, on the 8th anniversary of President Bush's mission accomplished speech, the 66th anniversary of the announcement of Adolf Hitler's death, and most importantly, in honor of the long awaited justice for all of those effected on 9/11/01, the men and women around the globe serving [...]
