J.R. & PH7 - The Good Life Soulspazm Record: 2012 More often than not, producer showcase albums can be a crapshoot. Basically, they fall victim to an inherent issue of being loaded with guest features because, really, most producers don't rap. And that's especially true of the ones who reach into their little black book (and wallet) to get everyone they can on the record. What this who's-who of guests does is undermine what should really be the focal point: the production. Instead, you'll be left wading through sub-par-to-solid rhymes while trying [...]

"Just cause you out of reach doesn't mean you lost your touch." JR & PH7 is a production duo out of Germany, showing love to underground Hip Hop, they just released their 3rd studio album The Good Life . The LP contains features from Sean Price, Roc Marciano, Skyzoo, Torae, Saigon, and more. On this record, "Goodbye", Median and Phonte take centerstage. Peep it below.
Cologne, Germany-based production duo J.R. & PH7 return with a guest-laden new album, The Good Life . In addition to Skyzoo, Sean Price, and Saigon, the project features longtime collaborators Phonte and Median on standout track "Goodbye". The North Carolina spitters tag team the bright, boom-to-the-bap beat with solo bars and then a killer back-and-forth verse to close out the track. Hip-hop heads, enjoy. Listening to Phonte rap is like breathing in a deep breath of fresh air. He brings you something original, clever, honest and on point. Phonte tells it how it is, nothing over exaggerated. His word play is second to none and keeps you engaged in what he is saying. But if y'all had payed attention during his stint in Little Brother then y'all already knew this. Tigallo has quickly become a bright star in an already impressive galaxy of MCs that have graced my headphones over the years so check out this latest gem featuring Median. [...]

"I'm suited for the game, y'all dressed for failure." Phonte really loves the "Office Space" theme for music videos. Donning the salesman suit once more, Phonte and Median turn in a great new video for their collaborative record, "Eternally", directed by Kenneth Price. The song appears on Phonte's last LP, Charity Starts At Home , and proves once again that Phonte is one of the best on his job. Check out the new video below.

New music video for Phonte's "Eternally" featuring Median & produced by 9th Wonder, off Charity Starts at Home . Directed by Kenneth Price. iTunes: Charity Starts At Home - Phonte
Phonte dropped the acclaimed debut solo project Charity Starts At Home last year, and he is still on pace with promotional material. For his latest endeavour, the North Carolina MC tackles album cut "Eternally", which sees vocal assistance from longtime collaborator, Median . Not to mention the soulful 9th Wonder production. The video is quite humorous, actually, as Phonte and Median act as door-to-door salesman, trying to sell their records. No easy task, might I remind you. Check out the video and share your thoughts below.

The NC by way of Cincinnati emcee Fluent drops "Wild & Free," the first leak off his forthcoming lp, Retro Future. This Khrysis produced single features verses from the Justus League affiliate Median & KAZE a/k/a 4 Letters. Light on features, the album includes a guest feature from El da Sensei and boasts production from both Khrysis and The Returners. Retro Future is just one of two projects that Fluent will drop this year, the follow-up being a full length produced entirely by heavyweight beatsmith J. Cardim (Lil Wayne, Akon, Wale, Talib Kweli).
It's an all-North Carolina-everything affair on this new single from Cincinnati native Fluent. The up-and-coming spitter is joined on "Wild and Free" by Tarheel State stalwarts Median and KAZE on the mic while Khrysis mans the boards. The end result is a laid-back, '90s-referencing burner emphasizing the three MCs' lyrics. Hopefully we get to hear more from Fluent in the near future, because this is most certainly a great start. You can stream and download the track below.

9Th Wonder & Phonte Brotherhood: The perfect word to describe something more than just a friendship between these two men. In a world where we've seen friendships end faster than video game losses, the beginning of last year was the start of a new beginning with these two brethren mending their friendship after four years of issues that they respectfully chose not to speak about publicly which was ignited by the release of 'Star' . And since then, they've maintained it like they're supposed to.. and to witness this live [...]
